The protagonist stays at the Planetarium to try to fix it during which both kind of bond and we get to see a bit more of how the world came to be. The animation was amazing, crisp and very expressive. The music is also very good. When i popped it in my Blu-Ray player, the main menu music kind of gave me an idea what kind of show I will be dealing with.
But be warned though, this anime will make you cry. The last time an anime made me cry to the point where I had to pause it for a while to catch my breath was Clannad. Until yesterday.
Planetarian is not the best anime show I have seen but it is very well done and as a VN adaptation, I personally would rank it right next to Clannad or Kanon. So if you like tear jerker anime, do give this one a shot.
P.S. Maybe that is just be but I kind of wish they had made it into a full anime season, because some of the back story bits were quite interesting and they writers could have fleshed out the world a bit more. Minor Nitpick.
The main character is reminiscent of going through work and finding awe and pleasure in taking time off to appreciate things--things that are ever present in day-to-day life, but aren't given attention until it's realized they are missing when there is a need for them.
For this movie, it's stars. And beneath the stars lie powerful themes regarding the importance of appreciation, discovery, and communication.
So let me take the time to say "thank you" for the world we live in existing. Could be better, but hey--life is a series of mishaps and dealing with it to not miss out on happiness.
In short, I loved Planeterian.
Thank you for listening.
Being lonely doesn't mean you alone if you have a reason. But what happen when that reason breaks?
The little robot that tells stories . . . and maybe needs another reason to exist other than her job.
Meh - I liked it.
They really didn't need to make this movie and could have just done a standard 25 minute episode to cover the "Planterian Man of the Stars" story.
If you're OK with paying $35(As I write this) for 1 hour 35 minutes of OVA material and the 25 or so minutes of new movie material so be it. But I'm knocking off stars because its poor value for money. The movie doesn't offer anything substantial.
