About the Author

Sharon Palmer, MSFS, RDN, aka, The Plant-Powered Dietitian, is an editor, writer, and speaker, and one of the most recognized nutrition and vegan food experts nationally and internationally. She’s the author of three previous vegan cookbooks: The Plant-Powered Diet: The Lifelong Eating Plan for Achieving Optimal Health, Beginning Today (The Experiment, July 2012), Plant-Powered for Life: Eat Your Way to Lasting Health with 52 Simple Steps & 125 Delicious Recipes (2014), and California Vegan: Inspiration and Recipes from the People and Places of the Golden State (2021). Palmer has authored more than a thousand articles in a variety of publications, including Better Homes and Gardens, Oprah Magazine, Prevention, and the Los Angeles Times. A registered dietitian nutritionist, with a master’s degree in Sustainable Food Systems, Palmer is associate faculty in the Master of Science Sustainable Food Systems program at Prescott College. I love this cookbook! It offers a refreshing approach to managing diabetes through the power of a plant-based diet. It contains 100 delicious all-vegan recipes, and it educates readers on how to prevent and better manage diabetes by making simple yet effective dietary changes.

I learned more about phytochemicals and different types of fiber, two of the many reasons why eating plant-based foods is so beneficial. Using the tips in this book can help keep diabetes under control while still satisfying your taste buds.

The beauty of these recipes lies in their straightforward approach. With clear instructions and easily accessible ingredients, they are designed to be a breeze for both beginners and seasoned cooks. From hearty breakfast options like the breakfast scramble wraps to satisfying main dishes like the Shawarma-style cauliflower bowl and delectable desserts, like the strawberry cashew cheesecake dip, there is a recipe for everyone!

Informative recipe book of plants powered to beat diabetes. Good recipes. I didn't like the layout. The recipes ere one after another and were not broken into new pages, but that might just be because of the digital version. Not organized well. And not enough photos, although the ones it did have were nice. But good recipes, good information, and a good recipe book to have on hand.

This recipe book has delicious recipes that easy to follow and make! I would definitely recommend purchasing if you are looking for tasteful and nutritious vegan recipes.

I've made a few recipes out of this book so far, and they have all been delicious. The best part is that you can augment them or modify them to your taste or eating plan very easily — they're a fantastic starting point. She uses healthy, minimally processed ingredients and really layers flavors to make the recipes tasty, not "second best" in any way. I made the Mushroom Walnut Lasagna today and wow... yum. You can't go wrong with the recipes here.

I will be trying a LOT of recipes from this cookbook! They are all plant-based vegan with an emphasis on the plants. The recipes are light on the highly-processed ingredients which is great! Some of the recipes I'll be trying include Spicy Garlic Edamame, Kimchi Noodle Skillet, Miso Green Beans & Tofu, Best Kale Caesar Salad, and Sriracha Tofu Breakfast Sandwich. Don't those all sound delicious?! The introductory pages contain a lot of research on plant-based diets and their power to prevent and reverse type 2 diabetes. There are also some menu planning pages to make it easier to get started with this way of eating. If you're at all interested in plant-based eating, check this book out.

I gave this book to a friend who is trying to avoid type 2 diabetes. She is finding it extremely useful, informative and helpful in her journey to make better food choices. She is amazed with everything she is learning, right from the first pages! I know the recipes are good because I've cooked from Sharon's blog for years. I highly recommend this book.

The book title sounded interesting, then I saw the book's cover: three corn torrtillas covered with vegetables and garbanzo beans (chickpeas). That is 60+ carbs which is a killer for this Tyoe II diabetic. So I will have to pass on this book.

I love this book. Finding a whole food plant based recipe book especially for diabetics is a rare find. I especially like that nutrition facts are provided for each recipe. This makes planning meals much easier for diabetics. The recipes are great for the whole family too. It’s not often that I find more than a couple of recipes in a book that I like, but everything we’ve tried so far from this book has been great!
