If you are putting the night splint on by yourself it may take some time to get used to donning it. The most comfortable way to do so is as follows:

  • place the splint on the floor,
  • step into the splint
  • close and adjust the clasps while the splint is on the floor.
    • Clasping and unclasping can take a couple of times of donning the brace to get used to

Common Questions That are Asked -- Where does the WEDGE go?? -- Is it normal to feel NUMB??

Q - Where Does the WEDGE Go??

  • Step 1 Lift up the fabric pad at the toe area of the boot.
  • Step 2 Slide the wedge underneath and afix to the velcor on the wedge to the velocro on the botton of the boot.
(When completed it should look just like the image on the left)

Q - I am experiencing a NUMB FEELING in my foot when wearing the brace. Is this normal?

  • Ironically, this is a sign that the product is doing its job. It takes a couple of days for someone who wears a plantar fasciitis night splint to get used to the stretch provided by the splint.
  • Initially the stretch can be  uncomfortable and can sometimes cause numbness, but once a customer wears it for a couple of nights they are then able to tolerate the stretch and the numbness goes away.
Q - My splint is too big. What do you recommend?
  • We have found that the majorty of these questons come from customers purchasing the smallest size. Therefore, we do not recommend this product for a customer with a shoe size under 6.5

Best Practices for Starting to Use Your Brace

Recommended Best Practices for Starting to Use Your Brace:
It will be best to start wearing the night splint for a short period of time, perhaps only 1 hour the first night, then extending it gradually each night and week. Most splints are also adjustable, so you can alter the tension to suit. It may be that you need to start with it looser and make it tighter over time. The ideal target will be to wear it overnight or for around 4 to 5 hours at a time. This is the perfect time period for the plantar fascia tissue to extend and begin to heal!
