I was given this book by the author (I believe for being amongst the first to like his facebook page, which was recommended to me by a friend, randomly). What I'm learning as I read this book is that my friend recommending me his page was anything BUT random. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Joe had me hooked from about page 2, I'm pretty sure. Why? Because he's not preachy, he's not weird and new agey, he's not asking me to stand on my head for 4 hours a day, or drink raw eggs, or anything else that is ridiculous. He is asking me to do things that will make me a better person. He is asking me to open my mind to the world and all it has to offer, and to be present enough to cherish it. I love that he sows the idea of manifesting your goals into his work (again, with out the weird new agey crap that I'm getting a little tired of reading). I've been on a "clean eating" and weight loss journey for about 3 months, and my scale STOPPED moving about two weeks ago. After employing some of Joe's suggestions, I'm down 4 lbs this week! Has he given me some miracle elixir that has made me drop this weight? No. What he HAS done is bring me to a state of consciousness about my goal and asked me to recommit to myself. That simple. This book is great for anyone trying to transition to a more holistic lifestyle. I would highly recommend this book for Men specifically(Joe has a distinctly male voice and attitude that I think men would really find relatable). That said, I'm a woman, and I love it so far (I'm about 3/4 of the way through. Why? I like things that are a little rough around the edges.Read more ›

Sow sorry for the terrible play on words...but I had a little writer's block on the title. I'm not even sure how I ended up finding this book, or Joe Rignola's website, [...]...but this morning I feel like ONE LUCKY GIRL!!!
If you are reading this, contemplating hitting the download button, please...do yourself a favor and buy it. Oh...I know what you are thinking...but this isn't your run-of-the-mill, self-help, gluten-ditching, diet books. No, no...this is about goals...mastering your health (not just achieving it), with Mr. Rignola as your guide.
Last night (actually almost this morning), I was up way too late and decided to download this book on a whim. I don't have a Kindle, so I snuck into my 12-year-old twins' room and "borrowed" one of theirs. Feeling a bit guilty, I told myself that I would only read Chapter 1, and then carefully place the Kindle back in their room. In theory, that was a good idea. But what I wasn't prepared for was the draw of "Sow". Just a few hours later (and waaaaaay past my bedtime), I was finished. I wanted to wake everyone up and divulge my new revelation. I decided to hold it in until morning instead. This wasn't the best idea either, as I couldn't sleep. Yes, it's that good.
My only wish is that I had it in print form. I'm certain it would be dogeared, highlighted, and scribbled in by now.

This book is very useful to get you started on a path to healthier eating and living. Joe offers many great recipes and concepts to help you change your eating and thought processes. At the beginning he walks you through goal setting which is critical to any plan. I found this to be a very helpful and inspirational aspect. He also includes a few insightful stories to drive points home.

I decided to I knocked off one star not for content but for the many typos I stumbled upon along the way. This book needed a good proof-reader. Also I found the grocery list at the beginning to be incomplete and included one item that wasn't even used in any menus. But no biggie, I used it as a side dish. Oh speaking of side dishes, the menus included are main dish ideas so you need to come up with a nutritious side dish (greens other tasty vegetable).

Overall, the content was just what I needed!

The price was good for what it is, but for someone who already has a foot in the "ancestral eating" door, there just wasn't much new to learn here. Some of the things I even felt were not necessarily right for all. Enjoy it, but know it's not the end all and be all of health books.

It was simple and to the point and yet had lots of wonderful ideas. Maybe not new ideas, but reinforces a lot that you may already know but don't do. It gets you rethinking and recommiting yourself to being the best you and appreciating every day in every way. This was a real treat to read. I defintely recommend it for anyone who wants to feel they can embrace the best life by doing small and simple things. Lots of encouragement from the author. A real treat.
