Original review: After 2 months alternating 2 pairs for 12 hrs a day.
Cons: Reset was difficult when suddenly failing to connect properly after 2 days of use, nearly returned it.
•Lack of accurate sound quality could exacerbate noise processing disorders if used as the only device long term. But reasonable for audiobooks and phone calls.
•Earplugs could definitely use an extra stablizing spur. But haven't fallen out yet.
•Yes, there is a connection delay. Might miss a couple of words at the start of a video. Meh. •Plugs are a bit big for sleeping or tight safety helmets, but seeing as they work for noise cancelling, I'll work around it.
•Not water resistant.
Pros: I LOVE neck style leashed buds, the flexiband is more stable than expected when at work. And you can't lose a bud.
•Price means I can wear one, charge one, all day.
•Auto-off is handy.
•Worked great with audio books.
•ANC combined with earplugs that seal well has worked for my needs.
•Blocking substantial traffic and machinery sounds was better than expected.
•Especially good at dampening moderate crowd noises, background discussions, and high pitched electronic sounds.
•Surprisingly good at blocking distracting intermittent 'chirping' sounds on my job.
No ANC in-ear plugs I've used (Including Bose) block all sounds. That's not how ANC works. You need over ear plus ANC for industrial use.
Definately recommend for better communications in a crowd, and autism use.
I'll buy again.
Great plus is also the fact that they can be used while they are charging and plugged in to a 3.5mm port.
I tried two "in-ear" sets first, one Sony and one JBL. Both gave poor seals in my ear, allowing background noise to seep in. I believe that was because the larger size of the main unit prevented the actual bud from fully penetrating the ear canal. Maybe I've got a small ear? If I pressed hard on the in-ear units, all was good. I also had trouble with both in-ear units paring (took several attempts), and the left ear of the JBL kept dying.
The Plantronics fit my ear much better and give a better seal. Comfortable. No problems paring. No problem losing the left side. However, I'm very dissapointed in the noise cancellation. It's barely noticeable, slightly dims low freqs, does nothing to high freqs. To test, I sat 3 feet in front of the Bose speakers on my desktop computer (quiet room), and played various Youtube "background noise" videos. Hiking on a busy trail, I could clearly hear the jabbering of others as they passed.
CONS--
Tracking down whether there is even a warranty was difficult at best.
Poor durability lasting only 10 months with one ear bud dying.
Support wanting to send a replacement model which was half the price and poor reviews at that.
I will not buy products from Plantronics or it's present owner Poly
Rubber ear covers are not standard and only one vendor overseas had them to replace .
