I like single-ear headsets and finding a decently-reviewed USB one was kind of a challenge. Enter this...thing. I had problems when I first got it, but not enough problems to warrant the hassle of sending it back and waiting for another new headset, since I was already waiting for this one because my previous one broke. Every once in a while in Vent when someone would transmit, the earpiece would 'scramble' it, adding in a ton of feedback and electronic hiss. It didn't happen terribly often, but it was terrible when it happened, but since I only use it for VoIP and it otherwise sounded fine, I lived with it.
Literally days before 6 full months of ownership, the thing is now useless because the earpiece no longer works. Given my history with headsets, I took extraordinary care of this one, hanging it out of the way when not in use, never adjusting the boom past my first use, etc. After some testing, I found the problem: the wire that connects the headset to the little black plastic volume/mute controls is internally loose. If I push the cord further into the volume controls, the wire connects and the earpiece works. As soon as I let go and move my head at all (there's no clip to keep the volume controls from just 'hanging there') the wire becomes loose again and the earpiece cuts out. This is only inside the volume controls, from the outside the wire is still visibly fully connected.
I contacted Plantronics to inquire about warranty information. Both their website and the auto-confirmation email assure you that a representative will respond in 24 hours. After not hearing from them for 40 hours, I emailed them again.
Will never buy another Plantronics product again. I highly recommend nobody else does as well. Sure, if you don't get a defective unit, it may be worth it, but mine was "off" from the get-go and now I can't even get the company to answer their own support ticket.
Sound quality for one ear headset is very good.
Volume control button can overrides PC sound volume.
Mouth piece bends/adjusts to ones desired position
Does not feel tight on your head like some headsets
The headsets wire is very thin and flimsy feeling (see main picture), which may have durability issues down the road.
The hefty volume controls are always pulling down on the thin wire due to its weight, which adds to my concern for long term use.
