My last two Voyagers, the newer 5200, were from this vendor and were 'Refurbished' which implies fully tested and cosmetically same as new. I'm in the cellphone refurb (industrial scale) business and understand how difficult it is to detect latent or intermittent defects in returned goods, no matter how much testing occurs. My first refurbished 5200 exhibited poor microphone audio out of the box, which got progressively worse, then finally unintelligible after a few months. It's replacement worked fine for about a month, then developed apparent software problems to the point where none of the button pushes elicit default audio prompts like 'Pairing' or 'Phone 1 Connected', even though the default 'beep' occurs. The manual states this can happen when the sensors become uncalibrated, so having connected the charger and laying the headset flat on a non-conductive surface for 10 seconds to re-calibrate (several times), the headset acts the same. Maybe the sensors are bad?
The microphone audio works ok in a call for about 30 seconds, then deteriorates to unintelligibility. Also, the 'originate call' button doesn't work, even though the headset beeps. On my Note4 I've tried it using both Google and S-Voice with no improvement. Even unpairing and re-pairing to rebuild the Samsung Android Bluetooth stack only seems to work once, and only for a few minutes. A friend's Voyager Legend, by the way, works perfectly on the same phone.
To give credit where credit is due, the Plantronics call center was very helpful, even though refurbished devices have no warranty. I asked for a desktop software reflash load to try as a startover and they, unfortunately, don't have that option. In the meantime, Amazon Prices on an actual NEW Voyager 5200 have come down to only about $20 more than refurb. You can guess where my next one will come from.
