With a selection of 49 (mostly) unlockable plants, you must protect your abode from a hoard of assorted zombies across day and night levels on your lawn, pool, and rooftop. It's fairly easy, with a perfect learning curve and manageable difficulty level. There are also plenty of mini-games and items for sale to enhance the gameplay. I only wish that there were more trophies. The entire game only has 12.
This Blu Ray retail version of the game also comes with Peggle and Heavy Weapon, each with there own trophy set, included in the package. It's a wonderful, highly imaginative game and certainly gets my recommendation.
Lasting Appeal B
I haven't enjoyed a game this much since the SNES days when games were so simple but yet so fun. The game starts off very simple to help you get your feet wet but then it ramps up the difficulty as you progress. For every new zombie that is introduced, a new plant to counter that zombies offense is also introduced.
I am only on level 5-2 in adventure mode and I heard there are 50 levels with 10 stages per level so I'd assume I'm about 8 levels away from finishing this mode. I have unlocked every mode except Survival Mode which I read is unlocked after finishing the main mode.
Note: I will update this review as I play the game much more and unlock more and more things.
If you are on the fence about buying this game just make the leap over and pick this up. This $20 gem is better than a lot of those $60 games we all pay for and end up being done with in a few weeks or months. If this is your type of game I would strongly recommend buying this game as you will not be disappointed.
I only have 1 con about this game and it's very, very minor. In later levels you will experience a bit of slow down with all of the plants & zombies on the screen at the same time. If you can deal with that as I can then then it shouldn't be an issue. I thought I'd point this out for those who care about every single technical aspect of a game.
Lasting Appeal A+
Overall I'd rate this game an A+ or 4.9 out of 5. No game is perfect but this game is as close to perfect as can be.
Your job is to stop the army of the undead from entering your home and eating your brains by soiling your lawn with plants. Each plant has its strengths and weaknesses; offensive and defensive mechanisms. The gameplay is very simple, yet challenging (but not impossible to defeat). There's no single right way of playing this game, since each person has a different strategy that works for him/her.
As a person whose heart palpitates at the sight of zombies (and sometimes I squeeze my eyes shut - LOL - I'm no warrior) while playing Resident Evil and the Walking Dead, I simply loved the zombies in this game. They've got style! They range from cheerleading zombies to zombies donning a ducky flotation device. You can't help but love 'em. After completing each level, you receive "sinister" letters from the colorful undead.
After playing this highly addictive game on my android, I just had to get it a PS3 version. At first, I was skeptical as to how well it's going to translate onto the big-screen. However, I threw caution to the wind and decided to buy it.
Truthfully, I expected it to be a lot harder to play it here than on my android. It isn't as easy as playing it on my android/tablet, but it isn't as hard as I thought it would be. (I used my Dual Shock controller.) You collect the sun and coins by moving the analog stick over them. So you needn't to press any buttons. You plant by scrolling through your list of plants (L1 & R1) and then pressing X. While with the android version you just tap on the selected plant, the PS3 version requires you to scroll through the plants.Read more ›
