The streamlined and colorful PlasmaCar requires no batteries, gears, or pedals--simply hop on and go. Turning the steering wheel propels the vehicle forward and steers it as well. The easy operation will have your child driving, turning, and cruising all over the house in no time. Recommended for kids aged three to eight years, the car holds up to 220 pounds so older children and parents might be tempted to take it for a spin when no one is looking.

Simple, Fun Operation

The PlasmaCar is a well-designed toy that provides a thrill that belies its simple, colorful look. Driving around the house, maneuvering nooks and crannies, and going in reverse never lost its appeal for our testers. They were surprised by just how much speed the car was able to pick up considering its manual operation.

Our testers found the PlasmaCar rides best on hard flat surfaces. Carpet, grass, gravel, and other "rough" surfaces diminished the toy's ability to propel forward.

Develop Motor Skills While Having Fun

The PlasmaCar rewards good hand-eye coordination and fluid movements and provides a fun way for kids to get exercise while keeping occupied. As kids learn to drive faster and more precisely, they will be developing motor skills. Young children who have trouble propelling the car forward by steering can still have fun on the PlasmaCar by pushing off with their feet.

Because it has no electronics or motor, this toy is pleasantly quiet making it appropriate for indoor and outdoor use.

Durable Design Holds Children up to 220 Pounds

The PlasmaCar is the winner of multiple awards, and our testers had to agree with the consensus: it is a truly superior toy. The PlasmaCar has a durable design that can accommodate children up to 220 pounds. Our testers suggest that adults meeting this threshold hop on and go for a ride themselves. The car is deceptively simple but a lot of fun.

Quick, Easy Assembly

Putting the PlasmaCar together took our testers only a few minutes and required a rubber mallet and a screwdriver. In just a few simple steps, parents should be able to have the car ready for play.

A Kid's Review on July 31, 2008
Fun for ALL ages! My daughter got this for her 5th birthday and it is a HUGE hit. I also have a seven year old son who doesn't even care that he's riding on a pink car.

I know it has gotten a couple bum reviews, but let me tell you about our experience with it. This car basically runs on kinetic energy. You have to wiggle the steering wheel back and forth and the motion gets it going. We've had it on a variety of hard surfaces including pavement (most difficult place to get it to go), pergo, tile, and cement and it's been fun. My kids have no problems zooming around from surface to surface except for asphalt. Like I said, asphalt is difficult to ride it on, but not impossible. It's VERY important to get the screw for the steering wheel in correctly and tightly for optimum car performance.

I will also admit to riding on the thing and really having a great time. It's part ride on kiddie car and part Disneyland, in my opinion. Once you get it going, zooming around while going back and forth reminds me of being on some of the track rides at the theme park (obviously in a scaled down version). That fun wooshy feeling is there (albeit, a slower woosh than theme park rides, unless you are going down a hill, which is not recommended by the manufacturer, probably due to our overtly litigious society). It's also a really good work out for your arms. I think I am starting to loose some of that jiggle that sets in after thirty. Ha ha!

If you are looking for something that is going to do all the work for you, this probably isn't the toy for you. But if you have a reasonable expanse of hard flooring, driveway, and/or sidewalks and you want your kids to actually have to do something other than press a button to go, I recommend PlasmaCar. Now I just have to order one in a "boy" color so the kids will stop fighting over it. Okay, and I MIGHT get one for me. :)

There are no batteries required for this. Just attach the wheels to the base unit, and away you go! I agree with other reviews that this works best on flat, smooth surfaces. We tried this on our driveway and front sidewalk, and the movement was limited. We tried it on our hard wood floor, and it moves like a dream. If our daughter wants more room to "drive" this around, we'll take it down to the basement where there's more open space. She's two and she seemed to get the hang of steering this within minutes. It's great for all ages. We're super happy with our purchase, and would definitely recommend this product to others. Both my husband and I tested it out, and we both think it's a lot of fun as well!

Awesome ride on toy! This is the coolest ride on toy. Works by moving the steering wheel side to side. My six and four year olds love it. They actually ride on it together when they are in a sharing mood. Can also hold mom and dad easily. We have only used it inside this far. I don't know how well it will glide on the street, but works awesome on hardwood and doesn't scratch.

I purchased PlasmaCar Pink for my 3 year old daughter.

This thing is amazing. It was such a big hit on Christmas, the neighbors had to order one for their child, as he would not stop begging to come over and ride it ..

As for the car itself .. assembly was a breeze .. nothing too difficult at all and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I bought this for the youngest of 4 children, however, she has to fight the older kids for a turn (lol) .. even the oldest (17 yrs, 5'11" 180 lbs) can and will ride this car .. though he does look a bit silly with his big self on this little car .. Needless to say, it's fun!

It only took about 2 minutes of instruction and coaching to teach my child how to operate it, and most of that time she wasn't listening to me because, let's face it, she's 3 and knows everything.

Overall, a great purchase. It works both indoors and outdoors, though is a little tough and gets kind of stuck on carpet. Works exactly as stated, with no issues whatsoever from the smallest person in my family (about 30 lbs) to the largest (about 200 lbs). Lots of fun!

This is my favorite toy! It's not my daughter's favorite yet.. she's only two and she sits on it and pushes it around some... but usually I'm encouraging her to play with her other toys so I can ride around on it while we're playing outside. It is so fun! I truly am not looking forward to the day she figures out how to really get going on it because I will have to give up my favorite thing so she can play with it... I guess someday I will have to learn to share (or I will just buy another one!)

I bought all of my grandkids one of these Plasma Cars for Christmas one year, and they just loved them. It's very interesting the way they work, but they had no problem getting them to go, and go pretty fast too. There are no gears, pedals or batteries. They are propelled by turning the steering wheel back and forth. Not only are they fun, but your child gets some exercise while riding it.

It is very easy to get going and keep it going as long as it is on a hard surface. It doesn't work well on carpet or grass. I see some reviewers said theirs didn't work well. I bought 4 of these and I did get a dud, but Amazon replaced it so I was happy.
