It was almost useless on the tougher, newer vinyl lettering.
The problem is that the plastic blades are too soft and too flexible. I think that a hard plastic putty knife or plastic paint scraper from a home improvement store would work better, or even an old credit card with one sharpened edge. I do have an electric scraper that uses metal razors (basically a pencil-style soldering iron with a razor blade holder). Since I'm repainting, it won't matter that it scratches the paint, so I'm going back to that.
Edit: I bumped the rating up to four stars because this company reads its reviews and then acts to fix a problem. They sent me, unsolicited, better blades that work well for removing vinyl lettering, although I think I still need to apply a little bit of heat to do the job well. Good job! This is what customer service is all about. Thanks! Now, they just need to fix the item description and specify that the orange blades aren't the best for what I needed.
This one gives us a grip. It's light weight, too. It works better than the other scrapers ... It is definitely worth the purchase.
