Fear not you get extras, best deal in chemistry I've ever seen!
I have not tested the accuracy of the measurement markings, however I use these to accurately correct the levels in burets and graduated cylinders, either by adding/removing a drop or two or a mL or two so the actual measurements are on on a different instrument. I used these constantly in chem 101 at one campus had to take chem 102 at another campus and found they did not provide them. I was surprised to find how cheap these are at $4 per 100 they are probably the cheapest lab equipment you could ever buy, and that's a good thing for them. they arrived through Amazons free bundle in a Ziploc style bag that was nicely thick arranged in an alternating pattern. I counted them and realized I received more than 100 by about 6 maybe 7, I took about 6 to my lab locker and washed them with deionized water and have no Idea what I'll do with the rest, as in my previous Chemistry class I think I only went through 3 in a semester.Update: I tested the measurements on these and the milliliter marks are not quite accurate, almost but not exactly. Outside of chemistry it is probably close enough. I have tossed one or two after using with chemicals that when spilled started to burn a smoky hole in our plastic desk, I think it was concentrated hydrocloric acid, they lasted the lab and appeared fine, but seeing what it did to our desk, and the smoke cleaning them and the glass test tubes out, we thought it'd be better to just replace those, still no unexpected explosions.
These pipettes are fantastic! Especially since I saw the local hobby shop selling a blister package of 3 for $5!
I've been using them for mixing Testor's enamel model paints along with Lacquer Thinner, water, scenic cement, and India Ink. These work just great! I love the graduated lines on the side. Hmm, I use the Pipettes to squirt into a 1oz glass airbrush jar: 2 mL Rust, 1mL Flat Black, a few drops of Flat Red, plus 3mL Lacquer Thinner for the airbrush, and I've got a nice rusty color for airbrushing my railroad track.
I ordered from Scientific Equipment of Houston, and the 100 Plastic Pipettes shipped SHOCKINGLY FAST - Within HOURS of ordering. I got them in Wisconsin less than 48 hours after they shipped them from Texas! WHAT A DEAL!!!!
I counted 99, but I did a sloppy job counting and didn't bother to recount.
Here's one tip: When transferring paints, keep in mind that once you suck the paint up to a new "high water mark", the paint will coat the inside of the pipette, and you will no longer be able to see it register at levels below the high water mark. In other words, once you use a pipette to measure 2mL of a color, you aren't going to be able to see the paint level rise up to the 0.5mL, 1mL, and 1.5mL marks any more (unless you run some thinner through it or something). Yes these pipettes are cheap, but if you dispose of them after each and every single use, you'll burn through that 100 pack pretty quickly if you're a railroad modeler like me.
I use these when I do acrylic nails to get the liquid monomer into the dappen dish without spilling and making a big stinky mess. They are perfect for the job and do exactly what I need them to do.
I purchased these to transfer and mix various essential oils and carrier oils. These pipettes are about 6" in total length. They do have very clearly marked and readable measurement markings that start at 5ml and increase by increments of 5ml all the way up to a total of 3 ml. They are long enough to reach to the bottom of all my various sized essential oil bottles with no problem. They are precise and seem to work very well with various types of liquids and oils. They are cost effective enough that you don't have to worry to much about salvaging them. Although, I do try to mark them with which essential oil I have used them for so I can repurpose them with that exact oil for a few various uses anyway. They work great for making roller bottle blends, as well as mixing your own synergy blends of essential oils. I have had no issues with these dripping or leaking. I mean there really isn't too much you can say about a pipette, but these are functional, they do their job, and are economical. I will most certainly purchase these again when I need more.
These Transfer Pipettes from Vet Med are great. The quality is very good for a disposable. The plastic is a clear, and smooth. The bulb is soft and easy to operate. The tip is long enough to use in tight areas but it isn't a super fine tip. The bulb is large enough to draw 3ml water into the pipette in one squeeze without product going into the bulb. The lines and markings are a stamped part of the plastic, graduated in 0.5ml markings up to 3ml. They are not marked with ink and I wish they were, it would be easier to see them.
I use these transfer pipettes to mix oils and refill eJuice tanks. They are "purrfect" to give medicine to my cat without worrying a glass pipette /dropper will break in her mouth.
The pipettes can be rinsed and reused if really necessary. I bought 100 of them so each bottle of oil or liquid could have its very own marked pipette, attached with an elastic, to avoid cross contamination. If it's an oil that could react with the plastic I dispose of them after one use or use a glass pipette instead. They are not meant to transfer hot liquids.
These are quality disposable pipettes that I received from Vet Med (who will be reviewed separately). I wish every one would mention where their item was bought, there are a lot of counterfeit and substandard products out there. It's much easier to avoid a bad product, or buy a good product, when we know exactly where it was bought. Who knew there was so much to say about disposable transfer pipettes.
This is great tool for anyone using essential oils, most smaller bottles do not come with droppers. Upon receipt of my order, I opened the bag and counted, and there were exactly 100. These are meant for single use, but I get a few uses out of each by placing it in a snack size ziplock bag and labeling it with the oil used. They are a lightweight polyethylene plastic with gradulated measurements in ml., they do just what they are suppose to do, and you can easily count the drops. For the number of pipettes you get and this price paid, these are an inexpensive, convenient and non-breakable alternative to glass droppers. I'm sure there are plenty of other uses for them as well, but for me, they are perfect for oils and I'll be sure to keep a supply of them handy at all times. Go ahead and pick up a bag, they won't break the bank if they don't fit your needs, and I'm sure at some point you will find a use.
We've found so many uses for these other than "pure science". Removing dust and dog fur from my lap top and other electronics is one; cut the top 1 cm off of one and used it to refill my travel toiletry containers; "writing" with paint; precision application of adhesives, solvents, and various oils/auto fluids; the very narrow tube at the end means it get in nooks and crannies other tools can't. Shipped quickly and the quantity was accurate. Not one has failed, no weak/thin spots or bad seams. Even when dropped on the garage floor and stepped on a few times. Would definitely recommend.
Well, a pack of 100 pipettes was bigger than I thought! I guess I was hypnotized by the two pipettes in the sale picture when I bought it...;-) Anyway, they arrived fast and were, individually, just about what I expected. They stand 15.6 cm tall, are transparent and are calibrated from 0.5 to 3.0 ml, with a marker every 0.5 ml. If you plunge one in a liquid with the "bubble" fully compressed between thumb and index, it will draw approximately 275 ml. If you carefully release a drop of water, it will weigh about 45 mg... a reasonably small drop. If you use only clean water, they can be used indefinitely. But if you use them for messy work, they can be disposed of without making a significant leak in your bank account... The Beauty of It!
I ordered these with an eye towards transferring cologne from its bottle to a travel sprayer, but have since used them for lacquer paint touch ups, glue application and moving paint to my airbrush. While these pipettes are disposable, they can be easily rinsed and re-used depending on the nature of the chemicals you've transferred with them.
