As a research scientist and Ph.D. in Medicine, the author gives a profound and very thorough analysis of the influence of physical exercise on our bodies and minds, bringing back to life Plato’s ancient thoughts on the matter of the connection between body and mind, education and physical activity.
I found completely new approaches on how to deal with depression, improve brainwork activity, boost positive mood and why exercising as a family is so beneficial. I was really stunned by the findings of the Ph.D. student Toru Ishihara on how playing tennis just for 50 minutes can affect your executive function. There is plenty of valuable, useful information on exercising for losing weight and optimal aging as well. I also really enjoyed the felicitous quotations opening each book chapter.
The results of numerous studies, as well as key points, together with thorough, easy to understand explanations and examples, make this read very clear and helpful. The most important thing is that book is written in a very coherent manner and is amazingly well-structured, which adds to the reader’s perception enormously.
In our fast-changing world of rapidly developing technologies, where people tend to forget about physical activities and their vivifying impact on human lives, this book definitely should not be missed! I highly recommend it to everybody!
