Forget that Brad Paisley is associated with the Nashville Hat Marketing paradigm. Forget that Country Music may not "play" (pun obvious) to everybody. Forget everything you think you know about musical genres and just put this on the music machine of your choice, and let 'er fly.

This collection has something for everyone, and even if you aren't a flash guitar guru, the melodies will win you over; even if you aren't a Pop Country fan, the pop country tunes will win you over; even if you aren't looking for variety, you will not be disappointed.

The musicianship is spectacular and accessible at the same time. The tones are gorgeous and the interplay between the hot shot guitar slingers all on one record is fascinating. Some of it will remind you of the Hellecasters, some of it will remind you of early Satriani when melodies carried the themes, some of it will just remind you that its great to just lay back and listen.

Paisley has managed the impossible, getting this many (and varied) instrumentals unto a Nashville record. I guess star power has its rewards, but Paisley did not simply cut a ego trip of fast and furious hybrid picking, he choose some wonderful SONGS and then added the right amount of talent to bring each one to the front, using the guitar hero stuff to augment, not overtake the music.

Oh, and the vocal tunes are a nice way to mix things up. There is enough humor in the intros to allow even the grumpiest purist to crack a smile.

Before Flash comes Taste and this is a tasty journey from start to finish. Thank you to Guitar Player magazine for bringing this collection to my attention. It pays to read.

I don't hear from my old band mates very often. We're all too busy with our new careers, wives, etc. When two of them called on the same day to tell me that I needed to hear something, I woke up and bought the CD. Yeah, I know no one gets their music this way now, but old habits...

Brad Paisley pays his respects to major influences, and tears it up new at the same time. I don't think he held anything back, and that probably will make most non-musicians wonder what alternate universe some of these songs came from. Surf music/ Chet Atkins/Merle Travis arrangements, and then the guests show up.

The line up is so strong that you will only think of a couple of more names you wish were invited, but only one or two could have added anything important. For me its always been about tone, and this effort has it in spades. I could not ask for a better guitar range of motion, played by the best of the best. BB King and Andy were just icing on the cake. The tele masters all conspire to show you what you missed by not practicing enough when you were 12. If you own (or ever owned) a blonde tele, dyna comp pedal, and a tweed twin, and have not bought this one, you're running late like I was.

I don't listen to much country music; what little I do listen to is generally considered "alt-country". I had only ever heard a song or two by Brad Paisley before, but picked up this album based on recommendations from other guitar players. (I "Play", though not on par with Brad!) I love instrumental rock, especially instrumental guitar pieces, and think this is a great album. That said, it is pretty all over the place, and I can see staunch country-music fans might not like it. A couple of the songs have a very rockabilly Brian Setzer vibe, and "Turf's Up" is pure homage to Dick Dale. "Cliffs of Rock City" I've heard is a nod to Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" (another great instrumental rock piece). "Les is More" is a jazzy little number giving respect to Les Paul. The guitar playing is fantastic throughout, and the songs are creative and melodic, and honour those mentioned above without being derivative. My least favourite songs on this album are actually the songs with lyrics. If you're a dedicated country music fan, this might be a skip for you. If you enjoy great guitar playing and various styles of music, I'd say give this a shot, even if you never listen to country music.

Not a big country music fan, but I do play guitar and I LOVE this album! This is Brad's "I made it big enough in the music industry that I can do a pet project album and the record company won't say an ill word" album. Brad won me over with the smoking guitar playing on his previous album, "5th Gear." This is the one that really enlightened me to his talents beyond locomotive Telecaster riffs and catchy tunes. He is simply on fire for the entire album. He shifts from style to style without a hiccup. Rock-radio friendly tune? Yep. Bluesy enough for BB King fans? Yup. Technical enough for Eric Johnson fans? In spades. Any room on the album for Snoop Dogg? Believe it or not, yes. Surf, Blues, Rock, Country, Hillbilly? All there and well-executed. Bravo, Mr. Paisley. Any fan of MUSIC can appreciate this album. Well, the opera crowd might yawn, but that's okay. For the rest of the unwashed masses, this is GOLD. This album will likely shock (in a great way!) those who aren't familiar with Brad's work, everyone else knows this is just another great Paisley album. He wasn't given this opportunity by the record company; he EARNED it.

I am not a Country fan but I am a serious guitar player. I play mostly blues and fusion. There is some seriously great guitar playing on this CD. I heard a cut from it on my Johnny A. Pandora station and was amazed to learn it was Brad Paisley who I have never listened to before. After listening to every tune on Spotify, I bought the CD. Brad can cover a lot of different styles and do it well. If you like instrumental guitar music, you won't be disappointed. It rocks, it swings!

Credo sia uno dei più begli album di Paisley! Lo consiglio anche a chi apprezza autori come Clapton e Knopfler, per la sua bravura a suonare la chitarra. Il duetto con B.B. King poi è incredibile! Assolutamente un must have

If you need a Brad Paisley album, this is it, superb guitar playing, his best instrumental in my view, “Turf’s up”, and a few country guests and other guests too, like B.B.King, Albert Lee and his lyrics are worth listening to. I’m so glad to find out about this guy, late in the day, but ...... better late than never, as they say, I think you should enjoy it too!
