This book contains really excellent advice and insight into the art of performance for anyone anticipating appearances before any sort of audience. Whether singing, playing a solo instrument, delivering a political speech, or teaching a history class, the book provides valuable instruction on the techniques needed to be mastered to capture the hearts and minds of the audience, esentially the customers of the performer. When you think of performing as the delivery of a product (talent or knowledge) into the hands of consumers, the book delineates the considerations that must be made to ensure that delivery will be a roaring success. The book should be required reading for the American Idol and X-Factor wannabes because there WILL be a quiz at the end and if you haven't learned this stuff ahead of time, you WILL fail the test.

Mindi Abair has certainly stood on more stages than most musicians could dream about. Her father
Lance has done the same. And when they are on stage they blow audiences away! So the
credibility factor is off the charts for this book. It's full of helpful tips and suggestions without making
the reader feel like what they have been doing is inadequate. Instead it encourages you to be an
even better entertainer. Once you start reading "How To Play Madison Square Garden" you won't
be able to put it down!

Having worked with Lance Abair back with Young American Showcase, I am pleased to see the concepts we taught to those young, un-trained musicians now in print. I wonder if there are enough musicians out there willing to read the book and actually put this info to work for themselves and their performaances. If so then we will all benifit from better shows and better showmen. Great job Lance, Ross, and especially lovely Mindi. You ought to know and see her mother Linda! Ooooo Yaaaaa.

I have purchased six of these books and have given them out as gifts. I have had great remarks from all who received one as a gift. One said "it was one of the most thoughtful useful gifts he has ever received". This book is perfect for anyone who makes presentations or is in front of an audience of any kind. Teachers, motivators, pastors and of course musicians would all benefit from the very easy to understand, practical insights this book has to offer. I would highly recommend this to read.

When you read the Acknowledgments, you will notice Young American Showcase prominently mentioned, and for good reason. I was a part of YAS in 1983, and every lesson taught in this book was taught to us in person, every day, for a MONTH before they put us on the road. You would sit and take notes, while everything was being demonstrated to you. I've been an entertainer for 30 years, and when people come up to me after a show and tell me what a great time they had, I'm just so grateful for the incredible training that I was given. No matter what genre of music you play, no matter how good a showperson you THINK you are, this book will turn your thinking on it's head, I promise you that. If you're a musician or singer or performer of any kind, this is REQUIRED READING.
