I ordered this set to go with a set of water blocks from Plan. There is a BIG difference in quality. These are not that slick smooth wood like the others, they are thinner, and I can tell just by feeling them that they are not going to be as durable as some of the more expensive brands. The clear plastic part scratches easily...the plastic on the more expensive ones doesn't. Also, the sand ones remain "cloudy" at the top when the sand falls to the bottom...unlike the picture where they look pretty clear. HOWEVER, they are ok for the price. You get 24 blocks (8 rainbow, 8 bead, & 8 sand) with the other brands..you order these separate, and that gets expensive. So...if you are ordering for a group of children (classroom, daycare...etc) or some kids that get really rough with their toys...I would opt for the more expensive ones. If you are looking for a small set with a variety for a single child, or a couple that are gentle with their toys, you will be fine with these. They are not terrible...just not great!

My 2 year-old got these blocks for Christmas. He was immediately taken with them and began playing with them. After about 20 minutes, he had already cracked one of the sand blocks which produced a sharp gash in the plastic covering. He still loves playing with them, but I have to watch him because he has already dropped a couple and the wood frame splits and comes off. They are very poorly constructed and we have to use wood glue to fix the frames when they crack. They are a good price and my son enjoys them, but durability is definitely and issue. I will probably be buying the more expensive ones, so I can't say I would recommend buying these.

i bought these for my daughter to play with. the glue used needs to be better. half of them have no wood on them now. just the center pieces. if you drop one on a hard floor it will shatter. some are still together and its been over a year but then again she doesnt play with themeither. id save your movey for other toys or fix them as they break with a better longer lasting glue. and soem of them have leaked their liquid out, the plastic needs a better seal, shouldnt leak through at all especially all the way out through the wood too.
