I would not buy them a video game console from the seller again. I bought a PlayStation 2 slim from the seller because it said it was not abused working flawlessly in the description, the first thing I noticed when I got it was after hooking it up and powering it on, it froze on the menu, there are usually danceing lights on the main menu where it reads browser or setting, that was my first hint somthing was wrong then I was like well I'll put a game in, it didn't seam to sit right on the spinner the thing the disc sits on to play, so I put it in the system close it and it makes a horrible scratching noise and would not read any disc, I always got the message disc csn not be read. I ened up doing research and fliped it upside down and it worked, otherwise it will not play any games, so I took it out side and I smashed it will a sleg hammer, I won't be sending it back because I don't want the seller to send it to someone else and waist there money, I bought a playstation 2 for less at a local store and it works flawlessly , you can probably find one for less local like I did

Im dead serious would stay away, unless you want to be very disappointed

I got this as a christmas gift from my husband. I was really excited to play all of my ps2 games until I plugged this console in. The first thing I noticed was a note that said "works" still stuck on the top of the ps2. This console made the loudest sound when I played my games. I noticed that my games would slow down and glitch when playing. When my game stopped working, I shut it off and opened the slot to find my disc was melted in one spot and was warped and pitted. The seller made it difficult to get ahold of them. I hope I could get a replacement or refund. The one they sent is a piece of junk.

This item was sold as "used- acceptable" I ended up with a ps2 slim, original box, accessories, and original manuals. I am highly impressed. The console is also in great working condition

It comes new in the box, and I did bother to check for internal wear and tear on the hardware and it is all brand-spanking new. No refurbished parts or repackaged cords.

Tips for new and old PS2 players:

When you get it hooked up to the internet make sure to install the latest update software, which can be done in the ps2 settings.

If you play ps1 games make sure to also tweak the settings, i believe they are called "upscale" and "smoothing"
(They make Spyro look so much better :D)

And if your looking for a HDMI converter that supposedly upscales graphics even more, DONT. They do not work. Games simply weren't made for that back then.

Also this is opinion based, but ive had 3 Ps2 consoles over the years, and i believe standing them vertically kills the laser that reads the discs quicker, it was made to lay flat so keep it that way!

Lastly treat it well, and enjoy some of the best games ever made. (:

PS2 Not Compatible with Newer TVs

I loved the old PS 1 & 2 games and have alot of them. It is why I bought this PS2. Unfortunately, the composit connections do not work with those on newer tv’s. I got a converter so I could connect via HDMI, but other than the system startup (without a disk inserted) it would not work. With a game disk inserted the initial Playstation logo would come up, but after that a black screen with my tv telling me no source connection. The same was true if you turned it on with a game disk inserted. This was true for both PS1 and 2 games. If you have an older tv with the proper red/white/yellow connections then you are good to go. I regret I am forced to return it since it is unuseable for me. I gave it five stars because it was a brand new unit and I have no doubt it would have performed perfectly. Had I been able to connect the analog PS2 to my digital tv and have it work properly I would keep it. So very disappointed, but its not the PS2s fault in any way.

I just got my PS2 Slim in yesterday and I am blown away. I was cautious that these were still advertised as brand new with Prime shipping. It is almost too good to be true. Thankfully the unit I received was brand new. It felt like I had just gone down to BestBuy and picked up a new console. The box was dust free as was everything inside. If you are looking for a brand new PS2 this is a great place to pick one up!

The PS2 first came out in the year 2000 - now 14 years later you can still get one.

So onto the actual console. I managed to hook it up to my projector and receiver last night and it still holds up. Star Wars - Starfighter still looks great - it's no PS4, but the graphics have aged very gracefully and don't look as bad as I was expecting. The optical audio output is welcome for if I ever use this as a DVD player.

The slim design is built to last. It has the top loading drive like the near indestructible Nintendo GameCube and has plenty of fan ports to avoid over heating. I grew up with the PS2 and N64 - so I do miss that original more future looking PS2, but the slim being more future proof has me enjoying it.

Using a brand new PS2 has me shocked and awed ... in a good way. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend others pick one up while they still can! These stopped production in January of 2013 so I'd imagine supplies will dry up fairly soon.

Arrived a day early, great. Thats where the positives stop.

Con 1: controller that came with was absolutely filthy. Two of the arrow keys (left and top) dont even work.

Con 2: both the memory cards it came with were fully loaded with game data. Not too much of a hassle but still, take some time to make sure the console is wiped and ready for a new owner

Con 3: first booted it up, popped in a game, doesnt read the disc. Only after an hour on the internet and dismantling the console i find out one of the 2 buttons that start the disc reading wasnt being triggered. Solved this by taping down the button permanently

Conclusion: dont buy this console online, or at least get tangible evidence that it works properly before you do. While i did eventually get the console working, someone with less technical know-how and patience might give up and junk it. And since the controler provided doesnt work, i now have to spend twice the money on controllers (pay for a replacement and pay for a second to play with friends)

Upon receiving the unit, I have had nothing but issues. It will randomly start skipping audio repeatedly unless a reset is done. It does this with every game. Also with certain games it straight up freezes and refuses to play past certain points. This is likely due to the wear and tear over time, but it saddens me that most outlets do not do THOROUGH tests of consoles before selling them, especially when they advertise it as "Very Good" condition. The controller that came with the unit was non-funcional as well.

I was very skeptical buying an older pe-owned console off Amazon (or anywhere online) but it turned out great.
console is in great shape came with a 64mb memory card a controller and the console and all cords.

What I liked/got:
1x Official Sony PS2 controller. 5/10 condition. (explanation in additional)
1x 64mb memory card. 7/10 condition.
The console (slim model) 9.5/10 condition.
Official cords 9.5/10 condition.

What I didn't get:
The box and books.

Additional info:
PS2 was in excellent condition still had the plastic on the glossy plastic in the middle. The cords are the same still with plastic on them and the console had no dust or grime on it same as for the interior. Only two problems with everything that I could find is that the included controllers right toggle will stick and pan around sometimes so it needs to be replaced, not a major problem already have wireless ones on the way. The other problem is the description didn't include the model number.
So I'd suggest you look for the condition if possible when buying here and what extras it comes with, I also prefer Amazon shipping but didn't have this option for my purchase so it took some time. What can I say the PS2 is an amazing console for the great games from the time of my childhood and it was worth getting one for the nostalgia if nothing else.
