I've been anxiously awaiting a next generation Battlefront game for years--not just as a casual gamer, but as a Star Wars fan since childhood. I'll raise a little rabble and agree that the omission of Galactic Conquest or a deeper single player campaign is palpable, but that doesn't stop this game from being a really fun (albeit spawn-die-repeat) online multiplayer game. The variety of game modes adds a lot of replay value, as does the points/upgrade system.
The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and it's no hyperbole when I say I'm living my childhood dreams when I play because of the beautifully immersive worlds and careful attention to the smallest details to place players inside the Star Wars universe, whether players battle on-foot or take to the sky. Adding to the depth of the experience, music throughout the game relies heavily on a remarkable and appropriate original score to complement the standard John Williams fanfare.
Fanboy accolades aside: You should probably buy Fallout 4 first. Despite the great job they did building a fun and beautiful game, EA definitely deserves the ire they've drawn from customers regarding how they're handling the release of DLC. The game isn't nearly deep enough for the $60 price tag, only for EA to tell customers that to get the "full" experience, they'll need to pay an additional $50. If they continue developing and publishing the franchise, I hope they'll invest in packaging the value a bit better for the sake of their customers (but hey, there's profit to be had).
As for the special edition system, I couldn't have asked for a cooler reason to buy a PS4. It's a great collectible for a fan. I paid the price of a standard PS4 and essentially got the game free.
Enjoy.

We love Star Wars and we love this PS4!
This was a gift for our 6 year old son (and husband) for Christmas! First of all, there is the WOW factor. The fact that Darth Vader is actually on the console is awesome. My son loves it. The one controller that comes with it is also based on Darth Vader's colors and says Star Wars on it. It came 4 Star Wars games that had to be downloaded and my son likes all four. They are older Star Wars games, but to a 6 year old Star Wars fan they are still cool. It also came with Battlefront and I have been told that it was awesome. My husband and son play that together all the time. They just fight over who gets the cool Star Wars controller and who gets the plain white one that we bought afterwards.
The only thing we hate is a BIG hate. You can not play old PS3 games on this console. What is up with PlayStation? You can do this with other consoles. I know they want to make money, but this is ridiculous. I don't want to keep 2 consoles. Nor do I want to buy all the same games again. This is a big gripe. HUGE. But, this console is very very cool for Star Wars fans and highly recommended.
Just remember that you CAN NOT play your PS3 games. Get with the times PlayStation and listen to your audience before you lose us all to Xbox!

I will repair the machine because I have no choice. If I don’t, its only good for the recycling bin. As you can see from the photos we have a lot of PS4 games. But I tell you, I will never buy another Sony product. Not a T.V., not an appliance and most def not a PlayStation. If you are thinking about buying this then I will strongly recommend you purchase the extended warranty offered by Amazon.

I ordered this PS4 from Amazon on September 14, 2015. We received it on November 15, 2015 (A day or two before the Star Wars movie was released). The system seemed glitchy right from the beginning. We would have to turn it on multiple times to get it to work or it would shut off on its own. I should have immediately sent this back to Amazon for a full refund but we are huge Star Wars fans and I figured that the software updates would take care of it. I had a Playstation in the 90s that worked fine and I thought Sony would stand by its product. Then in 2016 it just stopped working. We sent it in for repairs and it was sent back "repaired ", or so we thought. It was still glitchy but the graphics in the Star Wars Battlefront game are very cool and the Darth Vader graphic on the machine is also very nice. Once again my mistake, I should have sent it back. Now in Feb 2018 the machine just stopped working again and Sony will only repair it if we shell out $99. Now this machine isn’t cheap. Everything about it cost money, the system, the games, the PlayStation online service and the in-game purchases. But if Sony will not repair a machine that has a documented problem then that says a lot to me about how they stand by their products and it should to you also. I have an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Switch that sit right next to the PS4 and they never give us any problems.

This will be brief review of both the console and the game. First off, the console itself is awesome. The Darth Vader etching is really cool, and the accompanying controller is a great complement. This is perfect for any Star Wars fan. As for the game, well that's a different story. Many of my concerrns have already been echoed here by others. Graphically, its beautiful, but gameplay is lacking. I really wanted to have an engaging story mode and immerse myself completely into the missions that I grew to love from the movies, but that was not meant to be. The Disney Infinity version actually had the compelling gameplay that I wish Battlefront had, but I understand that multiplayer was the target audience for this game. My pet peeve was playing the missions as Luke or Darth and then die by the hands of a rebel soldier or a storm tropper...come on man, that never happens, I've got the force!!!
Perhaps when the DLCs come out, some of those aspects will be addressed, but I don't think we should have to pay extra for that.
