Here it is, almost a year later. First, the right side broke just above the hinge. So we duct taped it and kept on trucking cause, well, they're comfortable and sound great. That was about four months ago. A couple of days ago, the left hinge snapped from the inside.
Time to look for some new headphones because I don't think they will stay on my head even if I duct tape them again.
(For the record, I'm over 40 and take immaculate care of my things. I know the value of a dollar because I work hard for mine. Therefore I am careful with my things. The hinges being weak is a known problem for many people, but not everyone.)
I loved these while they were in one piece. Best gaming headphones I've ever owned. They are truly wireless and if you own the right games, the VSS is stunning. I rarely ever used the VSS. They did make movies sound pretty good though. I'm no bass head so I can't really give an opinion on that. I never used these for music, just gaming.
I used the mic and never once had a complaint. My chat partners could hear me perfectly, I never had feedback, and the mute button worked like it should. I liked that there is a master volume AND separate chat and game sound toggles.
It took me a couple of tries to get it to sync the first time but once I did, I never had another problem with it again. I only disconnected when I walked around a wall. When I walked back, they reconnected seamlessly.
As far as battery life goes... I kept mine at a fairly low volume, loud enough to hear but not loud enough to drown out external noises like my wife and kids. I got a consistent 6-8 hours of life from them. You CAN use them while they charge. The extra functions like volume and chat/game sound controls do NOT work when they are plugged into the controller via the included 3.5mm jack.
Now I'm stuck. They are beyond fixing and I'm disappointed at the poor construction. But, MAN! I loved those headphones! Now the question is, do I go with another pair of Golds, or the Platinums at twice the price, or go for a wired pair at a similar price range. I don't game hard-core enough to validate spending over $150 for a pair of gaming headphones. So the nice, high-end stuff is off the table for me. I gave this 3 stars because they didn't hold up well but they were comfortable and sounded great and were truly wireless.
For the sake of transparency, I bought V-Moda 100s for my music listening. I don't mind spending the money as long as I'm getting the use from them or have a need. No regrets there.
If I could just get the mic with those to work on a PS4....

(+) El color es hermoso en esta version para mi gusto, y el detalle en los acabados es de muy buena calidad.
(+) Son muy cómodos y de buen tamaño.
(+) Si también tienes PS3 te encantará, pues se logra sacar todo el sonido de la consola como saben no resulta muy facil conectar audifonos cualesquiera, eso ya lo mejoraron con el mando de PS4.
(+) Los controles en las auriculares son muy cómodos.
(+) El unico medio para conseguirlo a precio razonable es aquí en Amazon o por algun familiar que viva en los US.
(+) El sonido es muy bueno, envolvente, incluso se notan sonidos que la tv no te ofrece yo lo probe con the witcher 3 y me gustó mucho.
(-) No existe la App para personalizar el sonido en la store de México.
(-) Si abres una cuenta norteamericana se puede bajar la App mencionada, pero al entrar a tu cuenta de siempre no se puede abrir, no se si abriendo y configurando en la cuenta norteamericana el sonido al cerrarla y al abrir tu cuenta de siempre se conserven los cambios en el sonido.
