Sony Just Pulled a Fast One on Everyone Buying these Controllers

It looks like all Sony did was repackage their old PS3 move controllers. As most of you know, the old PS3 move controllers had the mini USB charge port where as the newer PS4 accessories and controllers have the newer and more widely used micro USB charge ports. I thought that Sony would have at least updated these controllers with the micro ports since they will be used with the Playstation VR on the PS4, but no. These are pretty much PS3 controllers re-packaged in a box that says PS4. The nerve of them to sell these controllers in a 2-pack for $100!!! You can buy the exact same controllers in the PS3 packaging for around $25-$30! Take my advise and save yourself some money by purchasing the fully compatible PS3 move controllers for your PS VR instead.

Pretty much just repackaged ps3 move controllers. You would think Sony would at least change the charge cables. These didn't come with any wires, so I have to go buy some.

It's a nice gadget to have for VR, but Sony couldn't have updated the USB connector to bring it in line with today's standard? It still uses the 5-pin USB mini connector, instead of the micro USB-B connector everyone in the civilized world uses. It also will not charge through any of my USB wall-plugs, so it has to be connected to the Playstation, which only has 2 USB ports, one of which is taken by the VR Dongle, and one by my headset (non-VR).

Seriously Sony, bare-minimal effort.

Very happy with my purchase. I bought this to go with a cheaper PSVR bundle I bought my kids for Christmas. I was skeptical because some reviewers said they received older bubble wrapped items without chargers. I am happy to share that mine came in the box shown, brand new with 2 cables to charge these with. They appear to be the newer version. They work flawless and the kids are having a great time with them. They are being used with a PS4 VR Headset and a 500GB 1st Gen PS4.

When I ordered these, they were not listed as [Old Model] like they are now.

These work, but I was super annoyed that they are not really PS4 Move controllers, and instead are old PS3 move controllers packaged in a box that says PS4.

That means they have smaller batteries, and mini USB instead of micro.

They still work, I can play VR with them, but I paid $108 after taxes to get old model junk, instead of an actual new product.

I bought these for some PS VR games. I had just gotten my VR system and wanted to try out some of the games where these are requirements.

The game I was most excited to try them with, Skryim, was extremely disappointing. Not necessarily because the controllers didn't work, but because movement is so near impossible it just doesn't make sense to use them. It's 10x easier to use a regular controller, and that actually keeps me more immersed in the game than the motion controllers do. Maybe if I had used this button layout my whole life like a dualshock controller it would be different.

Otherwise... I played a few small, inexpensive games that I bought on PSN because they looked interesting and were VR enabled. On games that were designed for these controllers, they're incredible. You only have to use a couple buttons, and combinations of those couple to play the game, as well as movements of your hands (obviously). The thing I was most impressed with was the "spinning motion". I don't understand how the PS4 picks up on which direction you're spinning the controller, or even that you are at all with a camera-based system, but the movement is flawless. You start to use the hands in-game like they're your hands. I've had friends play a couple of these games too, and everyone picks up the controls within about 2 minutes.

Just be wary, if you're buying these to use with a game that just has them enabled for use, and the game was not designed for use with these... You'll probably be disappointed. I don't think I would give it even 3 stars if I hadn't tried them out on some other games.

Work great, we use this for Just Dance 2018 (didn't want to use the cellphone app or camera). Responds well, comes with 2 charging chords, and 2 Move Controllers. Used them a ton already, we like the wrist-ties, just incase safety. I was hoping they sold these individually, as we wanted a third one, but had to buy another set of 2 for the family. Yes they are a tad expensive, but overall satisfied.

These worked wonderfully on my ps4! A lot of people keep saying that the new controllers are better, they lied, they don’t have the new usb plugs. Listen. They work as advertised. I could give a hoot less if it had the newer usb or older, they charge the same. Sure maybe battery life is a bit diminished, but the older models are not insignificant like some people say.

Myself and my children have an amazing time using VR. And these do not disappoint. If you have second guesses,or doubts...... DONT. These work just as intended. As I say that, I’ve read some people have gotten DOA controllers. All you have to do is message the seller and let them know. It surely is a bummer, and a let down. But amazon and it’s sellers who ship the products stand by the rules in place. If they are bad. Return them. Yeah it’s a hassle, it’s a shame if you get a terrible item. But there are certain things in place to make your shopping easier. To right the wrongs so to speak.

On my end, I’m very happy with my purchase.
Everything works as it should. For the people reading reviews. For the people reading that these are terrible and not the new version. You are correct that they are NOT the new version. But they Are NOT terrible. These controllers work wonderfully. And do what’s needed.
