I Have a slim and pro. Both play the same games and very very close graphics in my opinion. Really see very little diff on 1080p tv. Even 4k with pro tough to see difference unless your 3ft or less away. If there is one absolute advantage with the slim is that it can be portable. Road trips or vacations is an easy pack. Again, I've got both and wish I never spent the extra dollars for the pro.

I bought it on-sale, for $269. It's a nice console, so far. If you take into account, the price of the bundled game, Uncharted 4 (about $40), I only really spent about $230 for the console, with a controller. It's very small, and very light. Runs quiet & cooler than the regular PS4. The only thing I would mention, for you to be aware, is that it does NOT have digital optical audio-out, but I don't need that feature, so I don't care. The HDMI works just fine, for me. Also, for what it's worth, I couldn't justify buying the PS4 Pro version for $150 more, when my TV upscales games to 4K well enough to make it nearly impossible to see any real difference between this console and the Pro anyway. This unit also has HDR, so it looks pretty impressive on a 65" 4K TV. I've only had it for a few days, so we'll see how well it holds up, over time. If I have any issues, later, I'll edit this review.

Purchased this product back in July of this year (2017).

This was a 2nd PS4 I had picked up, one for my partner & one for myself. I used credits on this purchase. When I purchased this Sony Playstation 4, It was during a promotion that came with console, uncharted a theifs end 4, and 1 controller, and 2 promotional keys. One key was for The Last of Us: Left Behind Stand Alone, and another was for comiXology, a site with dozens of comic books. Of the codes I gave the extra game to my partner, and with the comic book site I gave that to a friend of mine as I dont really read comic books anymore as I have other hobbies that keep me busy.

So I am not new to Sony Playstation, I am that type of gamer who once was a hardcore gamer who up to this point has played on almost every video game console to a PC. I chose to purchase a PS4 mainly because I missed playing some old school games I use to play on my PS1(original grey unit) and PS2(black unit), I never played games on a PS3, and will be honest I must not have done enough research on the PS4 slim when purchasing it, I found some info online, and after pruchasing I contact Sony Support for the console just to pick the customer service reps brain a bit on the console and got to say, I thought customer service experience was going to be bad, because I am use to talking on a phone not through chat. Either way I had a good experience on chat support.

So the purchase was not 100% bad, I can not play twisted metal or some the older games on it, unless you purchase another subscription for that, which allows you to stream games on console and play that way if I am not mistaken. So right now I decided not to get any suscriptions I merely just play actual games from the bluray discs on the system itself in my free times when not gaming on a PC or Xbox.

Typically people will post there pro's and cons with the system or product. In my situation and many may be looking for this as well, my main issue I have with PS4 slim is the compatibility, I wish at some time if not now, maybe the future, Sony decided to make the jump like its competitors and make games backward compatible, dont carge a subscription fee, just make it backward compatible. that is what stops some from moving foward and getting the system, I typically would not have gotten it, but because I had credits is the only reason why I did.

Now do not get me wrong, I dont hate nor dislike sony as I use to be part of their research panel before it was disbanned long time ago, but I just dislike that the most that I can not play old school games without having to pay extra fee for subscription.

Sony Playstation has some great ideas out there, but in opinion and not here to offend anyone on how I think as this is my reivew, but problem is with all these subscriptions and costs, it seems as if rather than putting their customer's first they are putting their pockets first. Yes companies got to make money, but they need to look at their competitor and see how they can improve and put themself on top, be different from their compeitors.

Overall Happy with my PS4!

Best PS4 Model Yet - Quieter, Cooler, Thinner

I have owned both the launch PS4 and the C-Chasy revised PS4, as well as the original X1 and the X1 Slim. For this review, I will only compare the PS4 Slim to the 2 previous PS4 SKUs (shiny left top and dull left top).

If you have owned one of the previous PS4s, the Slim is noticeably quieter when downoading games or playing games from the hard drive. When playing games from a disc, the drive noise is about the same as the C-Chasy PS4 (also about the same as the X1 drive noise). In terms of thermals, the launch PS4 was slightly cooler than the C-Chasy PS4 and the Slim is considerably cooler to the touch on the top of the unit than either of the previois versions. Where the C-Chasy model felt hot to the touch, the slim is just warm. On thermals and queitness, the slim is by far the best PS4 to date.

The slim also has some nice additions that weren't found in the previous models. For one, the HDD is easier to replace in the slim. Simply remove a small l-shaped plastic strip from the back corner and you can access the drive. It took me about 4 minutes to replace the drive and begin the SW update. Another nice touch is the see through light strip on the new DS4. I didn't think I would like this at all but afyer using the new controller it makes the once annoying light bar somewhat beneficial.

On a performance level, the slim is the same as all PS4s. That is, they all play the same games and there is no difference in graphics, loading, etc. The PS4 Pro should provide faster loading times and semi-improved graphics on non-4k displays. The PS4 Pro is primarily for those who have or are going to buy a 4K TV though.

So, recommendation time: if you don't have a PS4 and don't have a 4K TV, buy a PS4 Slim. If you have a 4K TV or are buying one soon, wait to see reviews on the PS4 Pro. If you have the C-Chasy PS4 and everything is working fine, there is no real reason to buy the slim. If you have the launch PS4 and it's too noisy for you, the slim may be an improvement worth considering but by no means necessary.

This is a straight forward review. I have had every PlayStation since Ps1 and this is by far the best console they have come out with. Besides having the awesome new features that the Ps4 has, it also has a super slim design. The footprint of this machine is less than a pair of shoes. The reason I gave it a 4/5 star review is because it is missing optical audio which the "fat" Ps4 had. Also, it is missing bluetooth which the previous gen(Ps3) had. Why not include old tech to the new gen? Anyway, I love my Ps4. I would definitely recommend a slim to anyone looking for a Ps4.
