The Playbook introduces us the Manwhore Brett Owens, Head Coach to the University of Austin 3 time winning football team and Miss Aubrey Cain, who is a woman in a “Man’s” world, working for ESPN on their college football level.
Aubrey is given the assignment of following Brett around for a month to do a feature article on him in regards to successful career as one of the top football coaches in the country. Not only does Aubrey get to see this man, she also gets to see the man that most of the media does not see. For Aubrey and Brett to find love, it is not an easy road, it is filled with turns and bumps, but their story is certainly worth going down that road.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good amount of Steam with their love story, and by adding some sports to the mix, even better!
This was a good story with a good plot, some interesting twists and a dirty talking leading man. Overall I really enjoyed it, but there were a few moments when the story seemed unnecessarily extended or like there was a development thrown in that wasn't needed and was only there to push more angst.
That being said I really liked the story and would still recommend it.
Aubrey is assigned to do a story on Brett and their professional relationship quickly turns to more with Brett's dirty mouth...yum.
These two struggle with where are in life and where they want to be. And the trying to fit the other person in there. I wasn't a fan with the direction of the book about 75% in. These two split up for quite some time and Bree makes an attempt at moving on with someone else. But these were destined to be together and finally find their way back to each other and manage to find each other on the same page. I'm also not a fan of the ultimatum and hat happens here. When the happy ending comes around its like it was forced. But in the end I like the writing and the realism of the story.
I’m just going to put this out there: I didn’t like any of the characters, and that includes the main ones. ** Full review cannot be posted because of Amazon **
THE PLAYBOOK is a stand-alone, is told in dual POVs, and comes with a HEA for Brett and Aubrey. As I said at the beginning, I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, so while I didn’t like this one, I would read this author again.
