When Nyle Maxwell (Winter) gets deleted from the main game, he ends up in the Junkyard, a deadly place where all of Capes Online's deleted data goes to die. To return to Capes Online itself, Winter must team up with his previously-believed dead younger brother and a mysterious medic against a militaristic organization that rules the Junkyard with an iron fist.

Meanwhile, Cyclone races to find a way to restore Winter back to Capes Online. But between being hunted by one of the game's deadliest glitch killers and a mad scientist who wants to dissect him for science, saving Winter might be the least of Cyclone's problems.

Series is starting to lose steam

I really enjoyed the first few books in the series. However, this one fell pretty flat.
*spoilers follow*

The entire concept of the junkyard makes no sense. Ok, it's where deleted files go. That sort of makes sense. But having huge numbers of people employed there? A huge investment of real world $$$$ to have all of these players doing guard duty? Inventing an entire new code dynamic of "data points" that gets added to characters who are deleted? Why? What possible logical sense does that make?

The Capes Online story arch made a bit more sense and was a bit truer to the feel of the original books that portion saved it from a 1 star rating for me.

Great story. Only problem, now Cyclone went over his stats more than necessary. Suggestion, list stats once, then when new sp and pp accrue, only mention the stats to which he applies them, don’t list everything.

The switching of viewpoints was a neat new literary device for the author. It does tend to break up the action a bit too much but it worked well overall
