What's bad about this book is the beginning, and the overall plot of the story. In the beginning of the book, we are introduced to the two main characters, who apparently were dancing around one another for the last two years. Right after being told this information, the two almost immediately jump into having sex with one another, a complete 180 in my mind. I had to go back a few pages and reread to see if I had missed something, and discovered I had not. That made me sad, because I would have LOVED to have seen a few scenes of them being awkward around one another, and not just being told that. It would have been so much fun to see awkward scenes between those two (the author is awesome at creating awkward and embarrassing moments, so I would've liked to have seen more). I like it when the shy girl gets the guy, and he appreciates her for it. I also love awkward moments of dancing around one another. But, that was not the case here. Their first scene together was such a jolt to me because the shy girl seemed so brazen all of a sudden. Even another chapter describing them more would have gone a long way to helping me go along with it. Once I got past that initial jolt, I really enjoyed the novella.
The plot is sparse, which is something else I would have loved to have seen more of. I REALLY enjoyed the sex scenes, but I wish there had been more than that. It seemed to me to be a lot of moving from one sex scene to another, which seems to be a trend, after reading Book 2 in this series (which I also recommend). If you are okay with light plot, and love some steamy sex scenes, then you DEFINITELY want to read this book. It got me hot and bothered, even if the romance moved WAY too quickly. The romance and story both moved at very fast speeds, in keeping with the length of the novella, and everything resolved itself very quickly.
What I liked about this story was that it was well-written, with few grammar errors, and it was a sweet romance. As I mentioned earlier, I also loved the sex scenes. I enjoyed the way Daemon looked out for and loved Aimee, They're great together. I wish we had a little more description about the main characters, so that I could love them even more. Unfortunately, that wasn't there for me.
There was a little bonus story at the end as well that was good cowboy fun. It gets me very excited to see the next book in this series since it features a cowboy. I hope that book is longer.
Overall, I recommend this book. It's a fun romp in the video game world, and it's short and steamy. It's lighthearted and fun, but moves quickly, so be prepared for that. I enjoyed this book and read the second book in the series because of it. I wasn't disappointed in that book either, and will definitely be reading more of Audrey Randall's stories.
It made being a geek HAWT!!!
Daemon is a famous gamer who plays The Celestial Prophesy with Aimee's twin sister Steph. When she's hurt Aimee is asked to take her place for a tournament with a HUGE cash prize.
Daemon is so well written, I want one 😉
Aimee is a reserved but not a weak character, which I thank author Audrey Randall for. She's strong when it comes to the steamy romance she has with Daemon.
The storyline was adorable. It was a story of hot sex and gaming. LOVE IT!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE OVER 18 WITH A SENSE OF HUMOUR AND PENCHANT FOR A FOOD DIRTY BOOK!
The sizzling short story at the end is a nice touch!
