Caleb is not the boy that she remembers all those years ago; oh no he is now a man… and a sexy as sin man he is. Caleb knows exactly who Kadence is … how can he ever forget? But what the media says is one thing and Caleb isn’t that man. So Kadence agrees to help him, but how much is actually pretend.
Kadence and Caleb both find themselves lost in each other. But Caleb is holding some secrets that just might rip them apart. Things aren’t as easy as Kadence hopes and playing pretend might now be the only thing Caleb is playing. The book is a rocky emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. Caleb made me mad a few times, but Kadence did too. At times, I felt things were a bit to rushed and some things not explained enough, but overall it was a good read.
I love the happily ever after but I want more I need a 5years from now kind of ending hint hint
Kadence had a crush on the much older, Caleb since she was seventeen. They are both children from privileged families. On a night both their families are at a party he gives her her first kiss and then walks away. Between that and her family is kind of sets her belief that she is nothing special.
After college, Kadance finds herself employed by none other than Caleb's company. She hopes he has either forgotten who she is or has let what her father did to his family go (he slept with Caleb's mom). Kadence's life is different now ever since she walked away from her father and nasty sister who slept with her fiance. She is struggling to make ends meet and lives on the other side of the spectrum from what she grew up in.
That doesn't stop Caleb from using her to get to her dad. He is so set on revenge that he hurts her in the process.
I really wish she was stronger than she was, yes she is young, but she was such an easy doormat for him. I honestly didn't connect with him, and didn't think his change was realistic. Don't get me started on his ex, who he took back with open arms and probably slept with.
I normally love Tamsyn's work, but this one felt a little flat and I just couldn't connect with the characters.
