Rachelle Ayala is the author of dramatic romantic suspense and humor-laden contemporary romance. Her heroines are feisty, her heroes hot. Needless to say, she's very happy with her job.

Loved the story line. It had a different perspective reading it, since the main characters were both Asian. This didn't affect the storyline, but I was caught off guard when I realize that they were Asian.

Love the story... and the twist. Great ending!

Been on a baseball romance kick lately, so this was right up my alley! Between both Jessica and Jay's intentions to keep things casual in spite of their obvious connection, a great extended cast of characters and a few unexpected hurdles along the way, Playing the Rookie serves up plenty of sweet and steamy fun to keep you entertained on a laid back afternoon!

This author is fast becoming one of my favorite New Adult and romance authors! Jessica and Jay are fresh, funny, and the story kept me reading nonstop from start to finish! I had fun watching them try out their fling and the chemistry between these two sizzles. Looking forwards to the next story!

I'm a huge fan of Ayala's work in general, but I genuinely loved this quick read. I picked it up and finished it in one sitting eagerly going down the pages. I liked Jay instantly and really rooted for him to be able to pursue his dreams and have the woman he loved. This is the perfect (sexy) airport read to drive boredom away, in my opinion. It doesn't have the detail or development of a full-length book, but sometimes you want a delicious designer chocolate instead of a full meal, ya know?

Playing the Rookie is an incredible story that delivers huge returns in the form of devastating passion and life altering love. There is no denying the powerful effect that it has on the heart and the mind. No matter how much in control we think we are, love will always take us beyond our limits and reconstruct our world. One touch and we will never be the same again.

Jessica needs a fresh start. She is desperate to get over her feelings for her ex since a future with him isn’t possible, and she is determined to put her whole heart into this endeavor. Her new job as a spring training intern should come in handy since she will come in contact with many new possibilities, but what starts out as a hopeful prospect lands her heart in very dangerous territory. Jay has come to the US in the hopes of starting a major league baseball career. He is starting spring training, and above all else he needs to stay focused. Unfortunately for him, Jessica has something else in mind for him to focus on. Their first meeting leaves him not just wanting more but opens his heart to dare to believe that he has found what he never thought possible. Will Jay be able to maintain a balance between his dreams and his heart, and will Jessica find a new love that will not only consume her heart but free her soul?

Wow, how I loved Jessica and Jay in this amazing journey that we see them embark upon! They are two beautiful souls nursing a broken heart who just need a chance to find something more. The depth of emotions and transformation that we see them experience together is absolutely breathtaking. I don’t want to take away from the stunning exquisiteness of what transpires between these two, but be warned that they will run away with your heart and leave you completely breathless for so much more.

I’ve decided to spend the next few months reading fiction I don’t normally read. Toward that end I read "Playing the Rookie" by Rachelle Ayala, a novella about the romance between a male professional baseball player and a female intern for the team. This story is unique because the two characters are Asian. The plot is thin due to the book’s short length but I did grow to care about the relationship. The story contained multiple sex scenes with some explicit wording. Mildly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a very quirky, fun and hot story. The author is fairly new to me and I have loved everything I have read of hers. This one just adds to my collection of hers that I have totally enjoyed.
