Really good controller, if yours works - [WAS: "It doesn't work. Period. DO NOT BUY."]

I bought two of them. The first one didn't work, at all. (See original review below.) The second worked just fine. And it is a good controller.
I have played video games since I was 3 years old, so I know game controllers, and this is a good game controller. It's not perfect, but it is better than most.
The rubberized finish feels good in the hand, it gives a sense of control. It won't slide out of your hands at all. It's not overly heavy, which would make your hands tired from holding too long - nor so light that it feels cheaply made and hollow.
What I really *love* about this is that it has 4 modes. So far, I've only used 2, but it has made all the difference in the world. The 4 modes are Controller, iCade, Mouse, and App. The one that makes this controller stand out, for me, is the Mouse mode. It's very useful. It turns the analog stick into a type of mouse, like those old Nubs on I think it was IBM or Lenovo laptops. (Pointing Stick I think it the "Correct" term.) Either way, with the mouse mode, even games and apps that aren't built for anything other than touch input can be controller with this device. It is very good.
But, as I said, my first one didn't work at all. And it was really frustrating. So I can't fully recommend this. If you are ok with taking a chance that you may have to return one, or two, or 5 of these things before you get one that works, then once you get that one, I believe you will be happy with your purchase, but for most people, it is probably not worth the chance.
====PREVIOUS REVIEW FOR MY NON-WORKING DEVICE=====
I left it on the charger for 3 days. THREE DAYS.
During that time, I swapped cables, chargers, USB ports on my computer.... Always leaving it for well more than 2 hours at a time. Unless it was going crazy with the lights flashing like a Christmas Tree - then I would unplug it and plug it back in, or try a different cable. Still never worked.
Contacted Nyko (the manufacturer) Customer Support. They walked me through hold to update the firmware, which I did. Left it charging for another 4+ hours. Still nothing.
To be clear, it would light up like it was charging, but as soon as I unplugged it, all the lights would go dead, and I couldn't get any lights to come on. I held the home key for well over 20 seconds. I pressed the reset button on the back (the one in the recessed hole that requires a safety pin to reach) I tried every button on the thing. I tried holding the home button down while it was plugged up and then unplugging it.... Never once did any of that work.
This thing simply DOES NOT WORK. It is garbage. Useless. A waste of time, money, effort, and frustration.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EVER BUY THIS THING. EVER.
