Royal Envoy is a great game for quite a few age groups. The game play is easy, but mastering each level is difficult. The replayability is built right in, as it seems to force you to change your strategy every couple of "towns" to master them with a gold star.

Each town seems to take 10-15 minutes to complete, so you can play alot of a little during each session and still make progress in the game.

There is also some sort of "easter egg" hidden on the title page I think, by following the butterfly around and clicking on the right "item" to trigger an action, however, I cant figure out when to click what I think is the last item in the sequence.

colorful graphics, fun calypso music, challenging for kids and adults. great timekiller for airports. AVG users-FALSE POSITIVE TROJANS. disable AVG on install TOOLS>ADVANCE SETTINGS>TEMPORARY DISABLE AVG. install game. when you click the desktop icon you will get a false trojan alert-write down full path name-AVG>TOOLS>ADVANCE SETTINGS>ALLOWED LIST>ADD>[pathname]----then reschedule your security for once a month starting with yesterday or everytime you start the computer you will have to restore the false trojan from the virus vault. this seems to be an issue with downloaded games so unless you want to wait for the disk in the mail-adapt

It turns out the best way to make sure you're looked after in times of need is to supply your country's leader with swanky shoes. The king in Playrix's new building simulator Royal Envoy shows no interest in helping Islandshire's storm ravaged residents until he learns that they're the ones who keep him in purple slippers. Once this fact is revealed he wastes no time sending a delegate--you--to oversee the province's rebuilding and ensure production of his fancy footwear continues uninterrupted.

The king isn't the only eccentric character in this polished and pretty game. The narrative is spiced with plenty of fun and memorable personalities, whether it's your peculiar aide, whose massive equation for the number of nails necessary to complete all building activities results in the rather suspect answer "one," or a likeable young girl pirate and her eye patch-wearing parrot. Professional voice talent and attractive cartoonish graphics loaded with playful animations are the cherries on top.

But as high as the production values may be, they take a backseat to what can only be described as some of the most fun and frantically paced city building action this reviewer has experienced.

As with many casual city builders, Royal Envoy isn't really about winning or losing. It's simply about building towns. However, don't let that fool you into thinking this is a calm, relaxing experience. The speedy nature of the game's activities combines with a devilishly unforgiving gold star timer to ensure that you will almost always be on the edge of your seat with eyes darting around the screen looking for the next building or task on which to click.

There is never a shortage of things to do. Each level begins with a series of tasks, such as amassing a certain amount of money or happiness or building a set number of certain types of buildings. It's pretty simple at first. We simply click on an open lot and pick a structure to build, maybe click a couple more times to upgrade it, and then click again each time rent comes due to send a tax collector out to gather cash.

But the complexity ratchets up a notch with each new level.

Soon we need to worry about saw mills to make the wood for the houses. Then we need to build markets and choose the best deals with traders to generate more income. Then we have to start building up gardens and flower beds to make the people happier. Then we need to build banks, which generate money based on the cash collected from houses. Then we need to start adding siding to our houses to make them stronger and eliminate the need to repair them. The list goes on.

And that doesn't even touch on the little side missions, such as paying off bandits that block our way, using workers to dig for treasure and build bridges, or--one of my favorites--paying a balloon man his weight in gold (no more and no less) for his inflatable. It sounds daunting, but the genius of it all is that it never becomes the least bit overwhelming.

The density of tasks ramps up slowly and excellent in-game tutorials teach players everything they need to know as they progress. Plus, individual activities are so simple that none take more than a couple of clicks to complete. It also helps that we're typically provided clear visual cues in the form of pulsing icons and status bars that let us know when something needs to be done or how far along our workers are in their current tasks.

The only thing that vexes me is that bloody timer bar. It can be merciless in some missions. Starting around the fourth island I found earning gold stars--which are required to earn a trophy for each island--to be extremely difficult. I needed to have a well formulated plan based on level objectives before even starting to play, which can be difficult given that parts of the map are sometimes obscured. The only way I had a legitimate chance was to play a second or third time with a better understanding of what awaited.

But, thankfully, if the timer bar does expire you can still keep playing and progressing through the game's story and 60-odd missions. You just won't earn many of those lovely trophies.

On the bright side, the lure of trophies provides good reason to go back and replay levels for better times, which helps extend this game's already impressive length. And I'll take any excuse to head back in and construct a few more villages in this great little city builder.

I had ordered this game.

I have played the online version and it is a fun game, but after ordering the download on Amazon, it would not work on my computer.

My computer is compatible with the game, but Amazon was given a bad link by the company.

Amazon did refund me though the policy on the download games is no refund. they refunded me because they found the link given to them by the parent company to be bad.

Thank you Amazon for your great customer service and being willing to go beyond policy when needed!

Compared to Barn Yard this game was very disappointing. Gardenscapes is also a very good choice. This one is not.

I actually now own both Royal Envoy 1 and 2... I honestly think 2 is easier than 1... figured it would be the other way around but as far as the game I just love it! Both version are very fun. I actually purchased 2 before 1 and once I completed 2 I would go back in and try to better myself. Its very addictive and fun to play, This first version was on sale and since I loved 2 I figured why not lets try it and see if its any different. Definitely worth the money and u can download on all your computers and even on friends once u purchase. Recommend this to anyone!

Man this is sucky. 1. It constantly freezes up and you get really agitated with it. 2. They don't give you enough time to get a good score. I am really disappointed with it and very frustrated with the freezing crap. Don't buy it!

I normally play Hidden Objects games but got this since I've enjoyed other Playrix games and have been impressed with them before. Turns out, this is my favorite game by far! I have several other games I've downloaded but this is the one that gets the most play. I'm on my second time of playing all the way through, there is definitely a high replay value.

What I like: It starts out simple but does get challenging, especially if you want to reach your goals within a set time limit and get gold stars. (Accumulated gold stars gets you trophies and such) But I like it that you don't *have* to. You can play at a leisurely pace if you want. I like it that you have to plan your strategy before setting things in motion. I also have a touchscreen computer and this game works with that. (I'm not sure why some of the other games don't.) But you can bet my hands were flying everywhere on the higher levels. (Does that count as my daily exercise?) The storyline is a bit feeble but it more than makes up for it in graphics and enjoyable play.

The downsides? I really can't think of any other than I've become quite addicted...
