The material does seem a bit cheaper and the base is small. I don't understand how the product information claims that this can last until the age of 6. My almost three year old is 34 inches tall and when he spins on it, he almost always comes off of it.Getting it to spin seems harder than I recall. My son has to really try to get it going, but when he stops spinning it almost immediately stops as well.
Overall, I'm still on the fence of whether or not it was worth it to buy. My son doesn't play with it as much as I wish he did, but I can't blame him for not wanting to work so hard to get it spinning.
I was initially worried it would be too little for my 36" 27# 2.5 year old, and too hard to maneuver for my 31", 25# 18 month old. Not only do they have a blast with it, but my 4 yo goddaughter fights them for it. The baby can't quite get it going as fast, but she'll get there. The older girls make it move, and quickly learned it goes faster on the hardwood than the carpet.
My 2.5 year old, for some reason, likes to sit on the center part like a chair too.
Don't worry like I did, just buy it!
