The case broke the first day, but Mr. Potato Head is still going strong. This was purchased for a two-year-old, so it has been a lot of fun. Like all Potato Heads, this one tends to lie around the house a lot. He's a bit of a mess as he leaves his things scattered across the floor, and he NEVER picks up after himself. If you are looking for a neat little playmate to learn about parts of the body and to get a little creative, this is your guy. Don't say I didn't warn you, though; he is a bit of a slob and you'll be picking up his arms and eyes all the time.

Mr. Potato Head, what has happened to you? When did you stop caring about quality and product design? When did your pieces stop fitting anymore?

Seriously, I remember playing with a Mr. Potato Head when I was a kid and the quality and design have really gone down hill. The pieces don't fit in their holes like they should. I'm a big guy and I can't even get some of them to go into the holes, so the kids don't stand a chance. There are other pieces that don't even work. The mustaches don't fit with the noses provided in the kit making the useless. We also found that this potato head doesn't work with our older potato head's parts, it is very frustrating to have two non interchangeable potatoes around the house. I also feel the overall quality and fit and finish of the parts has really taken a nosedive.

I wanted to love this product, but I just can't, it's on my do not buy list.

I always wanted a Mr. Potato Head when I was a kid, so when someone gave my son a very basic one for his second birthday I decided we needed to have more options, which led me to this product. I had hoped to just find the accessories since we already had a head, but this one came with another head and I wasn't opposed. As other reviewers have noted, it is 35 pieces, not 40, and the latch on the suitcase is not really a latch and is instead a mere hint at a closure. We have one of those book cases with a number of bins and we just stash all the parts in one of the small bins, which makes cleanup after play a snap. We've kept the case for now, but i'm not sure it is really useful and will go in the trash as soon as it breaks. Regardless, my son enjoys giving Mr. Potato head a face and making it as silly as possible. It is not a toy we play with for hours, but it is something that we enjoy doing together, and that was an unexpected benefit of having a second potato head.

Bit difficult to get the pieces in for a 2 year old but hasn't stopped him from having fun. We also bought Mrs. What can I say, the kid is a potato head fanatic. Each set is different but parts are interchangeable. Added bonus!
Tip, I bought a plastic storage container and lost the "suitcases". Much easier and just dumped both sets into container.

I'm a bit annoyed with this. The pieces are really hard to fit into the holes and the suitcase doesn't work. I love the classic Mr Potato head toy but I'm mad about the design flaws because a child can't play with it on their own, I can barely get the pieces to shove into the slots. The pieces are creAtive and appealing for the kids but they get annoyed at trying to put them into the slots and just give up. Wouldn't buy again and wouldn't recommend to a friend.

I bought this for my 2.5 year old. The suitcase that comes with it does not close securely so if you try to carry the pieces in it, they will spill all over the floor, or driveway, wherever. The back of Mr. Potato Head has a small door so you can store some pieces inside, however, this also is very flimsy and not secure. When my daughter tries to grip the potato to press in some parts, her fingers often push on this door and it just falls right out. Some of the parts are very difficult to push into the holes, others are fine. Overall, my daughter does like this toy and enjoys the various combinations you can make. However, it is clear that the quality is severely lacking... this is a very cheaply and poorly made toy.

First of all, the case does not contain 40 pieces. It contains 35. We got the product and it was taped together like it had been previously returned. Took the tape off and sure enough, the case would not close. On top of that the case is cheap, so if you are buying this because like me, you want a way to store the the pieces during long car rides, do not get it. Returning this item, which is unfortunate.

I like the new feet Mr. Potato head can stand easier now, but I don't like the new mouth and nose design as much. There is a smile on the front to guide where to put the mouth and nose instead of just holes. Maybe I'm just old school.
