That should not, however, dissuade you from buying this book. It's not that expensive and not that hard to read, so go ahead and get it, read it quickly, and return it if you have to.
If you are looking for the thoughts of a less-than-famous, ordinary guy as he tries to follow Jesus, though, that's what you have here. The thoughts vary from the deep to the obvious, but all are worth your consideration.
The unifying theme is what you find in the title: pleasant places in following Jesus. Beyond that, the goal here is not to present a unified "how-to" book or something with a definite application point. Instead, Russo has provided a view of how life has unfolded for him, and how that may help you.

I would encourage everyone, whether new to their faith or a Christian of many years, to read this book.
I recommend the short Essays on the Christian Life.
