No, they aren't Frye boots - you'll have to dig deeper in your purse for that! Expecting a >$100 pair of pigskin leather made in China shoes to be anything more would be unreasonable.
Are they worth the price? If they were any shorter, no, definitely not. I paid for the height and visual effect, not the leather. As other reviewers said you can get better quality at Payless. HOWEVER - you won't get thigh high boots at Payless (at least if you're tall like me).
Totally for fun, this brand caters to strippers and drag queens - don't expect much more than showmanship - they're for effect, the stage, for being bold - not for close scrutiny. (For the cross dressers and queens - I think these would work great on male legs too. While I'm a female, I do powerlift and bicycle - I have athletic legs that rival some of the bodybuilders at the gym. You shouldn't have a problem with these.)
As a rule I usually don't buy Chinese made products - especially shoes. The boots are the exception to that rule because of the price. To buy boots with a shaft this high American made, I could make a mortgage payment instead.
Downside: poor craftsmanship, glue visible, cheap white stitching, plastic soles, strange thin crinkly pigskin leather, made in China.
Upside: tall (they really are thigh high on my 5'10" frame!), fit true to size, are comfortable, are very bold, will be fun to wear for crazy nights out or for something like Sturgis bike rally - just being over the top, fit my athletic calves (I don't know that these will work for someone with slender legs) and like the elastic garter that holds them in place. Cheap!
HOWEVER what I am surprised at are the earlier reviews talking about how wonderful these boots are - they're not - they're just OK - the sole is pretty good - the finish is fine (no hanging threads or gumphy glue bits as reported in other reviews) - but the "leather" is tragic - it's incredibly thin and brittle and over processed and looks and smells like a cheap synthetic substitute - this will be a problem as I am going to have to stretch these boots as they're too small in the foot and instep -- the leg is weirdly large and quite long and so it's probably a good thing that the "leather" is all stiff and brittle as that's possibly the only thing holding the boots up
the sizing is a perfect example of the difficulties faced in buying products from untested overseas suppliers via online - sometimes a 39 is an 8 and sometimes it's not - as in this case - if you were a narrow-footed 39 with a moderate to low instep then these would probably fit you quite well - if however you are an average width 39 with a high arch (like moi) then there's some work involved (on a side note I have discovered some fascinating tips online about how to stretch leather)
for the price these are not worth returning so i'm going to become a leather stretching expert - it's lucky I own a good boot horn
super sexy and comfortable.
