When Rosalyn moves back to Point Loma 12 years after leaving when she turned 18, her friend Lydia welcomed her into her family. Lydia's 17 year old son Jax spends increasingly more time with Rosalyn and they start dating in secret. When Rosalyn finds out she's pregnant, she believes that fatherhood is too much responsibility for a 19 year old, and leaves Point Loma without telling Jax that she's pregnant. After a year of waiting and looking for Rosalyn, Jax gave up and vowed he'd never all in love like he had with Rosalyn. Fifteen years later, surfing and s** are Jax's passions. Jax is stunned when Rosalyn calls him out of the blue, 13 years after she left him, telling him she wants to talk to him. In person. When they meet up, Rosalyn tells Jax that he has a son named Eugene, that she has cancer and has 6 months to live, and that she needs him to help her raise their son. Jax can't believe that that now that he's finally found Rosalyn, he's going to lose her again. Jax doesn't know if he can forgive Rosalyn for leaving him and not telling him that he had a son, but he does know that he still loves her. When Jax finds out that Rosalyn is trying to scrape together $20,000 for Trinity Therapy, which has a high success rate in curing hopeless cases, he borrows $20,000 to pay for the treatment. Will the treatment help Rosalyn beat cancer? Rosalyn finally realises that all the decisions she's made to protect the people she loves has instead ended up hurting them. Will she be able to make things right?
Pleasure Point is an emotional story that's angsty, suspenseful and steamy. Jennifer Evans's flawed and unforgettable hero and heroine had a lot of growing up to do and became much better people in the process. My emotions were all over the place as the story unfolded and I found myself rooting for the hero and heroine. I got so caught up in the story that I could not put this book down I highly recommend this book.
Since I read these books individually, the following are my reviews book-by-book.
Oceans of Obsession (Prequel)
Consider this an appetizer to the series. It's special to the boxset as it cannot be bought solo at kindle or any other e-book sellers. This story, about a high school senior named Rosalyn and her growth, maturing and ... well, I'm not actually going to tell you as I don't want to spoil things, but as with any good appetizer this prequel will wet your appetite for the main course, here the books that follow.
Peaks of Passion (Book One):
Hot steamy fun. A surfing god to play with. Don't tell my husband (as I do actually love him), but I want my own surfer boy toy!
Joking aside, this was actually a well-written novel with nicely defined characters and a good plot (though the steamy fun is also most definitely there). Definitely recommended.
Surge of Lust (Book Two):
Hooboy. Wow. I'm not sure if Surge of Lust is a book title or description of how you'll feel while reading this novel. Works either way for me. I'm a bit in love with Jax and definitely a bit bummed that my sweetie isn't a surfer. Great fun, and definitely recommended.
Waves of Desire (Book Three):
I've really enjoyed Jennifer Evans' Pleasure Point series so far, and its book 3, Waves of Desire, is no exception. The good news is that this is a really fun book, full of action and romance (oh, what the heck: thecsex is steamy and sizzling), plus hot surfers.
My problem is that it's hard to do this review without revealing secrets. So I'm going to just leave it by saying that Max and Rosalyn's story is well written, has an excellent plot, and is highly recummended.
This is a series worth reading if you can handle real life emotions and events. If not, then suck it up buttercup and read it anyways.
I thoroughly enjoyed the escape of this series while I got invested in the characters and their story. Living in Southern California myself, it transported me to places that I have experienced and brought back many awesome summer memories...so fun!
If you like great characters with a lot of heart that experience real struggles, with a dash of steamy sexy fun, then this series is for you!!
