So far, it's a waste... Menu's to adjust wheel settings on my Logitec G27 will NOT accept the up arrow, so I have no way to adjust simple things like "steering deadzone" which is set way too high in the default... so the game isn't playable... Not to mention that it doesn't understand my eyefinity multiple monitors... and in facts screws up all monitor setting every time I play and quit...

This is a joke... I would recommend WAITING till they at least put out a few patches...

For starters, I am a pretty serious simracer. I am ot the fastest or the most experienced, but I own pretty much every simracing title that has came out in the past decade and I regularly race all of them to various degrees. I am also a member on iRacing as well as some of the competitors.

hile I am a serious simracer, I am not a sim nazi, for whom only the most detailed simulation will do. I am usually able to overcome my prejudices and evaluate a title in respect of its audience.

WRC3 is the third attempt by Milestone to release an official game/simulation for the World Rally Championship. The first two efforts fell very short of the goal, with poor graphics and many bugs.

This edition is considerably better than its predecessors and for starters I am going to focus on what is there to like.

    1) Graphics: The graphics are excellent. Not quite as sharp as the DIRT series, but certainly up to modern standards.

    2) Driving: I use a G25 with Separate pedals and a bodnar cable. For the first time WRC3 supports multiple controllers. That's great news, but as we'll see later, the implementation is not the best aspect of this game.

If you use a wheel, the driving is pretty good, if you spend time setting up your wheel properly. The Force Feedback is very strong but it cam be adjusted. While the FFB is good, it is not very sensitive. One can feel the turns and the steering pulling, but I can be driving over giant boulders and the steering pretty much does nothing. While it's nice to have FFB, more work needs to be done to transmit the road back to the driver and not just the physics.

As I said, I am an experienced simracer. I am not that used to rallies, but sometimes I have the feeling that even without any aids like TC or autobrake, some help is given to me. may times I should have crashed and lost control only to skim the guard rail and save the day. Either I am really, really good, or something funky is going on. Hopefully I am wrong.

Game interface: Here is where this game becomes an absolute fail. The graphics are still very nice, but the folks at Milestone did not spend more than 20 seconds in porting this game from the Xbox to the PC.

Proof is that in order to do some functions, I have to use the shift and for other ones I have to use gas and brake. That's crazy. No one wants to navigate an interface with pedals and paddle shifters (especially since I like to use a stick instead).

But the biggest fail is that at present I am unable to navigate the car setup. The car setup screen has 4 or 5 tabs, each with sliders for the various suspension and settings. Problem is that the only way to go from tab to tab, instead of the arrows is to use your pedals. The biggest problem with that is that THEY DON'T WORK!!!!

Therefor I can only set up the front of the car but nothing else. Some have had success by using F5 and F6 to navigate the tabs, but that trick doesn't work for me. I am thinking of purchasing an Xbox controller just to see if it will work for me.

the other giant fail, possibly related to the silly navigation, is the replay. I have a choice to either hear the car but see it trought the results of the preceding race or make the scores go away, but being unable to see the replay at the proper speed and with the proper sound. It's crazy.

There are ,many more negative aspects of the interface but also some really nice aspects of the game proper. The car models are very nice, as are the stages. If I didn't have so many interface issues with this game and if it was more customizable (i.e. let you navigate with the key of your choice rather than paddles or pedals), this would be easily a 5.

Richards Burns Rally it is not, but it has possibilities. RBR has been the undisputed king of sim rally for almost 10 years now. But when it came out was just an above average rally game. Now it is a community supported wonder that is suffering from an ancient graphic engine.

Time will tell if WRC3 (or maybe wrc4) can dethrone RBR. It is about time for the community of modders to have a new game to work on, one with better base graphics. WRC3 could be that wonder, but one of the first things the community has to do is try to crack the way the interface works and give us something a regular human can use.

Driving is excellent with Fanatec Wheel and pedals especially after wheel settings are fine tuned.

Would definately have been 5 stars except for the prepondance of beta bugs in the menus.

For what I paid for this game, I was very satisfied. I don't agree at all with the negative reviews this game has gotten. maybe if I would have paid the $50 it cost when it first cam out I would have been disappointed, but again for what I paid I really love it. There are enough courses on this to keep you occupied for a long time. You will however need a pretty fast computer and a very good graphics card for it to deliver all it can. With the set up I have it runs very smoothly, but my graphics card won't quite allow me to run with the graphics looking their absolute best. With the setting I use, I get some minor polygon effect, but nothing objectionable. detail is still fantastic and a lot of fun.

Only supports gamepad or keyboard. Will not support driving wheel. Then cannot refund with Amazon. What a rip off. For a PC if I wanted to use gamepad I could buy a PS3 or XBOX. Most disappointed.

The game is ok at best. Lots of bugs and annoying things of that nature. Game play is fun and physics seem pretty real.
