Top Customer Reviews
This cable and it's power booster send power back to your computer. I didn't realize what had happened until recently. My motherboard shorted out and I just thought it was a bad motherboard but when I got similar symptoms on my new (much more expensive) motherboard I unplugged the cable and bam it turns on. There are two little green lights on my motherboard that STAY ON even when the power cable is unplugged from the wall. As soon as I unplug this cable, everything turns off. I got this cable to move my keyboard and mouse to the couch but it looks like I'm going to have to try something else. DO NOT BUY. KILLS MOTHERBOARDS.
EDIT: The company has sent me a replacement AND gave me my money back for the cable AND reimbursed me for the cost of the motherboard that was damaged. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I got a bad cable that caused some serious damage to one motherboard and almost fried a second. Everything works now and I WILL buy from this company again.
UPDATE: Support was PHENOMENAL and sending me a new cable. I'm using this with an Oculus Rift sensor and we found a way around it. I'll definitely consider buying from them again. I'm using the ASMedia 3.1 chipset on the ASUS Deluxe 2 mobo (also 3.1 expansion card, stock intel). Rift software says it's only running 2.0 but everything still performs fine.
This cable sovled the issue. Having a power adapter plugged to the female end of the extension cable provides the necessery power to maintain a solid connection.
tl;dr: Perfect for extending an Oculus rift setup.
The cable is thick and sturdy, but flexible enough that I can run it along the wall, under doors and around corners.
This is a great product all around.
I was worried that there would be signal loss due to the length, but it looks like this works perfectly. They correctly implemented the "active" part of the cable. It works perfectly in its intended capacity.
