New and Improved Triple Display Dock

Instantly turn your Windows, ChromeOS, or Mac laptop into a multi-monitor desktop—by connecting a single cable—with the Plugable Triple HDMI USB-C Docking Station (UD-3900PDZ).

The Plugable UD-3900PDZ charging docking station connects to a supported system using the included USB-C cable and provides the ability to connect up to three additional HDMI displays, provides up to 60W of USB-C Power Delivery, six USB 3.0 ports, a wired Gigabit Ethernet port, and 3.5mm combination analog audio input/output jack. Utilizing innovations introduced with USB 3.1, this 3 HDMI docking station takes advantage of "Alternate Modes" from the USB-C specifications for one of the display outputs and host charging.

When attached to a fully compatible USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt system, this laptop docking station supports Windows 10 and 11+, macOS 11+, and Intel or AMD Chromebooks with ChromeOS 100+. Linux is not supported.

This DisplayLink dock has been designed from the inside out to provide a triple-display experience that people can rely on. Lots of display link docking stations on the market have issues with monitors losing connection, the dock rebooting, flickering, and more. This dock represents our focus on quality and our 10+ years in the docking station market. Charge The UD-3900PDZ provides 60W charging to laptops that support Power Delivery via their USB-C / Thunderbolt ports. Typically 60W is sufficient for charging compatible systems. While most laptops will charge seamlessly, some models may benefit from using their original power cord if they require higher charging rates.	Display 1x HDMI (Alt Mode) up to 4K 30Hz (lower resolutions up to 60Hz) 2x HDMI (DisplayLink) up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz each With one USB-C (USB Type-C) cable connected to the dock, overcome the limited number of display outputs and ports on your device. This dock connects up to three HDMI displays on supported devices, and works as a mac triple display docking station on systems that would otherwise only support a single monitor, like Macs with base M1/M2/M3 chips. HDMI 1 supports resolutions up to 4K 30Hz. HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 support resolutions up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz each	Connect 6x USB 3.0 Ports 1x Gigabit Ethernet 1x 3.5mm TRRS Headset Port Many laptops are removing or drastically reducing the number of ports available. Get back your USB, audio, and network connections. This dock also makes it easy to leave your peripherals plugged in at your main work area, and reconnect them, with one cable from the dock. Some can be powered and charged through USB PD, while others do not. It is very important to check the compatibility of your device before purchase.

Okay, for those of you who are looking to have more than two screens on your Mac Mini, this device here holds the answer!

A. SETUP
Setting this device up is amazingly simple. First, go to www.displaylink.com, download the Displaink Manager software and install it. Next, plug in all the devices, and then plug the hub to the computer. Go to System Preferences/Settings/Displays to get to see the
monitors and arrange them

B. RESOLUTION
The resolution of my projectors snapped to the same refresh rate that the main screen had, and works flawlessly. Nothing to change at all.

C. AFFORDABLE
This product is at the correct price point, even though they could have EASILY charged more for this device. I will be checking out their other products as well!!

Even if you own a M1P/M, M2P/M machines that support multiple displays natively you are required to install Displaylink to use multiple monitors with this docking station. As the specifications state, only a Single 4K monitor is supported. Every additional monitor will be maxed at 1920x1080. I overlooked this detail and wondered what went wrong when I attempted to use a 4K & 1440p monitor concurrently at max resolution.

We tried a few of these but quickly spread to any user with a laptop that needed to work in the office. We mostly use HP and mac, but it works great with both. There are some things you need to enable on macs (screen sharing) but not a big deal. We have these all over our company and only had a problem with one (which Plugable replaced with a new one). If you want to use 3 screens, you must use the usb c cable included (or buy a longer one from plugable). After market usb c cables will work but not for 3 screens. Great products and the company stands behind them with great customer support. You can't go wrong

I am running a 3-screen setup, and ever since I got this thing, the connected screens will randomly disconnect, or flash constantly, and even if I only use 1 extra screen through this device, the same problem happens. The connecting USB-C cable seems to be sooo finicky, but I have also swapped that out and tried to get it to work with a different cable and same results. What a WASTE of money. A replacement or refund would be more than appreciated. For $250 bucks this should last me more than 1-year, and even in that 1 year, it did not work as it should have or as advertised.

In summary; works well, needs authorization for screen recording on MacOS, feels cheap.

This dock did everything I needed it do with my Macbook Air M2; be able to have multiple screens attached even though the Macbook Air M2 is not rated for more than 1 additioanl screen. I am pretty sure they use some sort of a software loophole to get around the restriction, but it does work and it works well.

The only issue is that you have to enable such things like screen recording to get it to work; small privacy concern and I am not sure if you can get it to work without authorizing a 3rd party app to get it to work, but if you don't do anything super sensitive or work with sensitive information this would do the trick. I don't doubt that anyone malicious is working for Plugable but it does seem like something that a bad actor can exploit. In terms of OPSEC and digital security, this is a risk that you will have to gauge yourself. I personally rate the risk very low. Once again, it is great if you do not work with sensitive information.

One aesthetic point I have to note about this device is that there is a hideous blue LED light to indicate that it is on. I taped some electric tape over it to hide it. There are certainly more elegant solutions like a white light bar.

Furthermore, the location of the connector ports are well-placed, at least in my setup. When deciding where I wanted to place the dock, I decided against placing it underneath or on the side just for ease of access to the ports.

The dock is made of plastic and is very, VERY light. It would be nice to have some sort of a weight to it if you were placing it on top of your desk so it doesn't slide around.
