Plugable USB 2.0 10-Port High Speed Hub. Includes a robust 12.5W 5V 2.5A power adapter. (US AC Wall Outlet Plug, 100-240V 50/60Hz)
Hub enables connecting 10 additional USB devices. Forwards and backwards compatible with all USB 3.0, 2.0, or 1.1 host controllers and devices on Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix computers at USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps. Transfer rates are device and USB host controller dependent. Fully plug and play, devices can be hot-plugged, supports USB over-current protection.
Requires no driver installation (although individual devices may require drivers). Compatible with all USB hosts that support USB hubs including devices such as the Wii, PlayStation, XBOX, Tivo, etc.
Hub is not a standalone charger and will not charge phones or tablets. Apple notes: Note that some devices such as the Apple SuperDrive look for Apple-specific signaling and will not work when connected through any USB hub.

I have been needing a USB hub for a very long time. So many of my devices use the USB ports that I have to constantly plug and unplug them. I needed a hub, but I was worried about them having enough juice to power everything. No need to worry. This Plugable USB hub can be plugged into an outlet, and I can have all the power I need. So far, so good.

This unit can also be powered exclusively by the computer's USB port, so that it can be used without being plugged in. If you don't have many devices demanding power through the USB connection, this is a nice option and makes the unit more portable.

There are six hubs in the front and four in the back (two of which swivel upwards). I no longer have trouble finding an available USB port. I can keep everything plugged in and they all work as expected. I am happy with this purchase.

UPDATE: I've had this hub for a month and the ports on the front side suddenly died. I can still use the ports on the backside. I suspect it's static electricity, since I reached in to handle it and a powerful shock emanated from my finger. I've contacted the manufacturer and will update here with their response.

2ND UPDATE: Warranty service was nearly instantaneous. I emailed them on a weekend and did not expect a response. Not only did I get a response, but they shipped a replacement right away. Talk about service! My new unit is now up and running. I will update again, if necessary.

3RD UPDATE: It's been six months since my initial review. My replacement hub is still working well. Plugable Technologies contacted me out of the blue just to check in with me on how things are going with my hub. Really and truly amazing customer service. For a product that initially gave me problems, I would not normally give five stars. I will make an exception in this case and will upgrade it today. The company obviously stands behind it's product and goes 110% out of its way to ensure satisfaction. I couldn't be happier.

Great USB hub if you have a lot of devices

I've had this USB hub for several years now, and it still works perfectly. I specifically bought it because I wanted a hub with a lot of ports, rather than daisy chaining a bunch of four port hubs together. It is much more convenient to have all of the USB ports in one hub.

Both the enclosure and the included power supply look to be solid and well made, and the power cord securely plugs into the hub, and doesn't accidentally slide out.

The power supply that comes with the USB hub is rated at 2.5 amps (12.5 watts), which lets you run several high power devices from the hub. No more problems with getting an error message when plugging in a device, because you've exceeded the maximum total current capability of the hub.

I believe you can also run the hub without the external power supply, if you do not need to power a lot of devices, but I have not tried doing this.

It is also very convenient that two of the USB ports can flip up at an angle, which makes them more convenient sometimes when you are trying to plug in a USB device.

The USB ports, as well as the power and USB input connector, are located on just two sides of the hub, not all four, which I find more convenient for wiring. I think it keeps things neater than if the ports were on all of the sides of the hub.

I've plugged a variety of devices into the hub, the usual keyboards and mice, as well as printers, a scanner, tablets, even a powered USB extension cable and a digital scale, and so far everything has worked great. I've not had any problems at all with any devices I've plugged in, either with them not working, or getting an error message that they are drawing too much power.

This is a great hub, and certainly recommended if you have a lot of USB devices to plug into your computer, and don't want to have a tangled mess of multiple hubs plugged into each other.

PERFECT little USB Hub is quick, easy, & reliable!

PROS:
1. Sturdy, high-gloss plastic box--really strong.
2. FLAT--not even an inch high = fits anywhere & it's not tall and tipping over
3. Ports in front (n=6), ports in back (n=2), ports on top (n=2) more genius than I expected for multiple uses.
4. NO driver to install. Plugged it in and my USB devices instantly connected! Whew! :)
5. External Drives (n=2) mounted immediately
6. The power plug fits across a power-strip--a minor thing but a nice space saver!

CONS:
A. The cable (to attach to your computer) is 3' and uses an NON-USB male end into the hub = you can't use just any long USB cable
B. While it *IS* mentioned in the item description, it's important to note this unit will NOT charge ipads and non-standard USB 2.0 devices.

SUMMARY: While I *wished* it would charge mobile devices, it comes as advertised and is better than expected.
I'm REALLY pleased to have installed in and have all my USB devices working flawlessly in under a minute! :)

Owned this product for 4 years and still hasn't broken. It's connected to my PlayStation 3 which supports up to 7 controller and all 7 can be used up pretty quickly. Here's my set-up
1. DJ Hero dongle
2. Rock Band Guitar dongle (player 1)
3. Rock Band Guitar dongle (player 2)
4. Rock Band wired drumset (player 3)
5. PlayStation Eye
6. EyeCandy Wireless PlayStation 3 red controller dongle
7. MiniUSB to USB cable (for charging DualShock 3 controller)
There's also room to spare for a DVD remote charging cradle for the PlayStation 3 or another MiniUSB to USB cable to copy files over to my PlayStation Portable.

You know it works well when it shows up in a recent DIsney/Marvel Captain America movie, where Captain America finds this connected to a USB key for an ENIAC-aged computer an a secret bunker, containing a video to advance the plot. 5 stars.
