When I saw that Cori wrote a book, I knew I'd read it.
This heart-felt, and sometimes painfully (and amusingly) honest memior brings to life the ideas and feelings that I experienced as Cori's student. The spiritual wisdom, the method for finding peace in every day life, the daily reminder that "my thoughts are not myself" - these are the valuable lessons that I'm still working on learning.
In addition to that, Cori's memoir is a story about an introspective, analytical woman who, because she is not perfect, is someone I can relate to. The "crazy monkey" in her head takes up space in my head, too. The monkey who questions and criticizes and doubts, and who chatters the loudest when you're at your lowest. Cori's spiritual work is to quiet that monkey in herself, in her students, and in everyone she comes into contact with...to quietly spread the peace that you can reach when you let go of the monkey and embrace reality in yourself and everything around you.
This book is a quick and engaging read, it's touching and heart-opening, and I enjoyed every moment.
Cori's story shows that there is no one pathway to our own individual truth, that there is no one prescription for finding happiness, and that there is no guarantee of a smooth ride.
I closed the book feeling like I had accomplished something emotionally through Cori and immediately passed the book on to girlfriend who needed to hear Cori's story too!
Bravo, Cori, for being so vulnerable, raw, and well...human.
