This is a book that really lives up to its billing as a pocket-sized yet thorough introduction to bridge. The only beef with this book is that most of it is devoted to bidding, with a tiny portion at the end for play and defence. I expect the authors to issue a sequel on play and defense. That aside the material itself is outstanding and clear, and at a surprisingly good level of bridge for an introductory book. I would definitely recommend it as a handy reference for someone starting out in bridge.

I haven't played bridge for 23 years and needed a quick review I could take with me for reference. This is IT! I really like the point count guide to bidding and etc plus the small size. I had something similar that my Aunt loaned me and after she died it was lost. This replaces it.

Even an expert needs a good reference guide once in a while. Beginners and everyone else in between needs a reference guide more frequently yet. This is, in my opinion, the very best quick reference guide to Bridge that has been written. When I was first learning the game, I spent money and time trying to organize the lessons learned into a mental filing system that would be instantly recalled as needed. It worked somewhat, of course. There are some experts whose guides are quite good. But then I discovered Barbara Seagram's Pocket Guide, compact, thorough and precise. Sure, there are a zillion conventions that cannot be covered in a single pocket guide, but all you really need to become a consistently excellent player are included in this compact book. Her secret is clarity in exceptionally well organized material. I downloaded the ebook to my Kindle so it is always at my side. This book, the dictionary and the Kindle guide are the only three permanent guide books I carry. What have you got to lose, $7.00?

So you are wanting to play Bridge. You've heard about it and seen your friends play, but you are reluctant to jump in because it all seems so complicated. Well this book is here to help. It not only shows you the rules of the game, it also gives strategy hints. Tactics to help best deal with certain situations.

Overall this is a great helper book. If you are thinking of learning Bridge, get this book first.

There are a lot of books on bridge out there, and most of them just make a difficult game more confusing. This one gives you what you need in an easy to find format. Three of us are learning bridge while our patient mentor looks on benignly, and all three of us keep this tidy, spiral bound 'how to' book next to us at the table.

Really nice little booklet. My wife and I are re-introducing ourselves to bridge, and we really like the layout of this book. It gives concise information, with good examples to go through to reinforce. We've found it to be really useful.

Some people can learn how to play bridge with big books like "Bridge for Dummies." This concise little book seemed easier to me. You will need friends who actually play bridge to help you along, but I like this book best of all the ones I have tried.
