This was such a cool book to read! I have no idea how the author did this!!

The title does note that this is a book about alliteration but I was totally blown away that each tale was told with every word beginning with the same letter. I figured a word here and there would start with something else to make the story understandable but not in this case! The author have incredible writing skills! The tales made complete sense and some were even on the longer side which was completely amazing.

My daughter is studying this is school right now and was so excited to tell her teacher all about this book and the teacher was pretty amazed by the description my daughter gave. She’d be totally blown away if she saw the tales!

You need to read this to understand how mind-blowingly awesome this book is!

‘Pocket Full Of Poesies’ is a simply splendid read. Written by Toula Mavridou-Messer with illustrations by James Messer, this delightful little book of alliteration is a must read. It has a uniqueness that is seldom seen and each little story accompanied by comic illustrations that engage readers of all ages.

With alliteration for everyone, ‘Pocket Full Of Poesies’ is not only a mere children’s book, but also great for those up for a tongue twisting challenge and performers who seek to practice diction and pronunciation.

Can you say ‘Wonderfully written words weave wonderfully witty worlds’ five times at a swift pace without error?

Toula Mavridou-Messer has created a multi-purpose piece of work that will be enjoyed by many, time and time again. I would highly recommended it.

For All Ages!

This book was a very fun and hilarious read. Its an alphabetized rhythmic collection of descriptive words and phrases. Each letter has its own funny, quirky story. My favorite one was "Sara Should Stay Sober" because it is funny and clever and i love the illustration on that page. Another part that is very cool are the funny illustrations. As well as the Sara Should Stay Sober illustration i loved the Middle-aged Max Melts Mammoth Mohawk illustration. Overall i really enjoyed reading this book and i think it is for all ages. If you are young i think you will like this book a great deal, as well if you are a teenager such as me. Even adults will enjoy this book i believe as it is a very fun exciting and funny read.

Your eye is naturally drawn to the colourful artwork on the cover – courtesy of James Messer, and you can’t wait to take a peak inside… What awaits is a courageously clever collection of short sharp stories, each with an astounding array of alliterations. Quite how it is possible to start every word in every story with the same letter is stupefying!
I find myself wanting to re-read each story faster and faster like a trio of tantalizing tongue-twisters. Even writing this short review I find myself struggling to string more than a few words together with the same first letter, so huge respect to Toula for her achievement.. This book would appeal to big kids of all ages and anyone with a love of words. Magnificent masterstroke!

This book is truly unique--a book of short stories--all alliterations. No sign of an "and," "the" or "but" anywhere! A truly original idea brilliantly executed. The illustrations highlight each story perfectly. If I have one criticism, it's that the font is a little hard to read...it might be because of my ereader though..and now that I've read it, I can imagine it in a different font.
Please note, the author was kind enough to gift a copy of the book to me, and I in return, have left this honest review.

‘Pocket Full Of Poesies’ is such a delightful and fun read. The book contains several short stories with each story being careful and cleverly crafted to only include words beginning with the same letter, which in itself is already an amazing feat.
The thing that takes the tales to total… Phew I have given up already!
The stories are well written and make perfect sense.
The stories are accompanied by fabulous and beautiful illustrations. This is a fantastic and mind bending read and is a wonderful edition to any bookcase, another wonderful read from Toula Mavridou-Messer.

Tautogram-orama! Reading was never more fun.

It’s a delight reading the short, quirky, fun stories in Pocketful of Poesies. The standout language play is an amazing achievement by Toula Mavridou-Messer, an exercise in alliteration on steroids! Accompanying the words are playful, perfect pictures by James Messer.

I highly recommend you add this book to your own collection, and stash away a few more to have on hand for gifts. A must have!
