It might just be me, but it's not entirely leak proof. There's a little silicone plug under the straw. I think it's leakproof with that inserted (as it comes), but then there's no air intake for using the straw. It doesn't matter to me. I only use it for water, and since it doesn't tip over in the car, it's not an issue for me. It fits well in my Yukon. We have an old (90's) Toyota and it's too big for that. Only a tapered style "to go" coffee cup, or 12 oz plastic water bottle fits in that.
