It is always fun to read a Sweet Magnolias novel, and Swan Point continues in the tradition. There is a balance of romance and reality about independent women's lives. For this installment, we meet Adelia and Gabe. Adelia is recently divorced, a mom of four, and a returning to work business woman. Gabe is in construction and returns to his hometown to make amends from his past and perhaps start over. We know from the beginning that Gabe and Adelia will fall for one another, so no surprises there. Where Woods adds to the storyline are facts about Gabe's past, which threaten to destroy the man he has become, as well as Adelia's siblings and ex-husband, who are determined to put obstacles in Adelia's way.

At times the story is a bit repetitive, as the two figure out their relationship. However, I really liked the language used when Adelia's kids needed some discipline or the fact that the two main characters did not just jump into bed with one another. Woods was able to capture the intensity of the moment for the two main characters without it being just another fluffy romance of boy meets girl...

This book can definitely stand alone; it has been a few years since I read a Sweet Magnolia book, and I did not feel lost. Woods integrated characters from previous novels seamlessly. I do recommend this book for fans of Woods, Debbie Macomber and Nora Roberts.

Makes me want to run out to a used book store to find all the copies of this series. I need to go to her website to get a list of the correct books. A good read. Can't wait for the next one, that I suspect is going to be about Carolina. Well worth a read.

I thought a little romance novel might be fun to lighten up some of my recent reading of some heavy issues books but this one is just too, too predictable. The author also throws in too much of what can and does happen in relationships. Several characters are divorced and now living “happily ever after”. She tosses in a relationship of the lead characters sister who is being abused by her husband. Two beautiful people, man and woman who is very recently divorced with four kids. The novel goes back and forth. She is "should I get involved so soon after", he is like "I have never been good at this I can’t possible make it work” .. and the whole town gets verbally involved. The out come is totally expected. The read is kinda cute and there is some good humor through out but there is very little depth to any of it. Maybe I expected too much.. It IS after all a Harlequin. If you want a cute little jog down a honeysuckle lane, you can go for this one. Sweet and also tart to the end.

I am currently in the middle of reading this book but so far as with all of Mrs. Woods's books it is a great read! I keep running into the disappointment of not having enough time to just sit and read this one through! I love how Mrs. Woods writes about small town life and even more so I love that she writes empowering stories about single mother's starting over and finding love. She shows that though it may not be easy and definitely has its ups and downs in the end it is worth it!

I completely adore the characters in Sherryl Wood's books. I love her writing and always eagerly anticipate her next one. That being said, this was a fantastic book. I sincerely hope she will be writing more Sweet Magnolia stories. She is indeed a very talented author!

Another 5 star book by sheryl Woods. I enjoyed this book as I always enjoy the group of woman that have such a great bond as the sweet magnolias do. There is nothing like friends to share your ups and downs in life. Great book. Also would like to see if the next book covers the spousal abuse story line.

Ahhh...small town living, where everyone knows everyone else's business. I grew up in small towns in the Midwest so I really identified with this story.

Adelia Hernandez has divorced her husband and moved with her four children to a fixer upper in Swan Point, in the small town of Serenity, South Carolina.

She finally got tired of her husband's cheating ways and wanted good role models for her children, and respect and love for herself - none of which she got with her ex-husband.

Then she meets Gabe Franklin, a troublemaker in his younger years and now back in Serenity, working for his cousin and causing Adelia's pulse to race.

I loved this romance with the focus on family values, self respect, and making hard decisions. This wasn't a fast-paced story but then Serenity isn't a fast-paced environment. To me, the timing was just right.

The characters were well-rounded and the dialogue was believable.

Loved this story of Adelia and Gabe, and all the other characters !
Sherryl has such a way of telling wonderful stories of real life. I've really liked this whole series.
It's so nice, wonderful really, to be able to keep reading book after book that I really enjoy, and so many of
the same people in each ! I love the "Sweet Magnolias", this tight group of women. At times, in the other
books, I felt they interfered a bit much in other people lives, it was sometimes annoying as all get out.
In this one, there wasn't as much of that, and that's a lot of why it's my fave.
