Editorial Reviews

Review

“A fun and fast read for middle schoolers who like a good ghost story.” –TeensReadToo.com (Review of The Dead End)
“This fast-paced story will capture preteen readers who are eager to walk on the dark side… Perfect for students who see their older siblings reading Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series (Little, Brown), this book will definitely find an audience.” –School Library Journal (review of This Totally Bites!)

This is book seven in this great series. It was the last I read as each story stands strong on its own. And this is one of the best of the lot. Sierra Harimann has written a wonderful, dark, ghost story. But it will be great fun for younger readers.

Hannah is not enjoying life right now. She is moving in with her dad, step-mom and step-sister. And their house backs onto the famous graveyard from the poem The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. The day before she moves in, her best friend tells her the town legend about a ghost cat. And the day of the move, Hannah's own cat goes missing. And soon she is being woken up by the cat at night. She catches glimpses of it and follows it to the graveyard but cannot find it. As she doubts herself, she doesn't tell her best friend, and soon realizes her step-sister knows more than she is letting on. But can she get her to work together, can they solve the mystery or are they headed to be the next victims of the ghost cat? Read this awesome story to find out!

This series has been out for a few years now. It is a dark off-shoot of their popular Candy Apple Books. This series, Poison Apple Books, is amazing. The books explore such things as ghosts, vampires, haunting and other darker tales. Unlike most fluffy books for young girls, these tales have a little more grit but still have some humour and are really fun reads. Unfortunately this series has either been canceled or put on hiatus. There appears to be a new spin-off called Rotten Apples that started this year and it looks really interesting. But even it is not getting much push or press from Scholastic.

My eight year old daughter just finished this book today. She loved it even after being reluctant to buy it at first. The story is a cute 'coming of age' tale about Hannah moving to her fathers house with his new wife and daughter, Madison. The house is next to Sleepy hallow cemetery.

The story continues with ghosts, a little crush and Hannah realizing her own potential with courage. Your children will enjoy these stories too.

Hannah isn't thrilled to be moving with his father, stepmom and stepsister who live right next to a spooky cemetery. But that's the least of her problems. Her stepsister is the meanest girl in Hannah's grade, her cat Icky is missing and worst of all she can't sleep at night.Something keeps scratching at her door.Could the legend of Sleepy Hollow cemetery be true or is something haunting Hannah?

This is my favorite among the seven books that came out.The eight book will be released in November.I read all the seven books and will rank them from best to least favorite.

1.Curiosity Killed The Cat
2.Midnight Howl
3.This Totally Bites
4.The Dead End
5.Her Evil Twin
6.Miss Fortune
7.Now You See Me

These are paranormal book series for pre-teens published by Scholastic.

But,when ever Hannah is sleeping or alone and quiet in the house, she hears some kind of cat scratching,EXEPT Hannah's cat isn't even with her!!! What's going on? Read the book to know!!! I really liked this book, and I've read about three times! The only thing I don't really LOVE about it is the fact that some things repeated a few times. That was kind of annoying. Also, I didn't like how the author just came out and said they saw a ghost. Usually the Poison Apple books have at least a little bit of suspense, or something. But over all, really good.

Hannah is not happy moving in to her dad's house ( the parents are divorced) and suddenly Hannah can not find her cat icky. Every night Hannah hears a scratching noise. More and more weird things keep happening is Hannah being haunted by a cat a ghost cat? Read the book to find out
