Poisoned By Pollution: An Unexpected Spiritual Journey Paperback – April 15, 2009
About the Author
After spending most of her early years in Africa, India and France, the author chooses to put down roots in Seattle. With her career on an upward path, and surrounded by friends and a loving husband, she seems to have it all. But from her first day in a new, modern, state-of-the-art office building, her health and life quickly begin to disintegrate into a river of losses and severe limitations. She and at least 60 other staff members develop symptoms related to a health epidemic that is not yet recognized or addressed by mainstream medicine. Some seem to recover; but the author and some others do not. Forced to live mostly housebound for what will become 15 years, and to avoid contact with most everyday chemicals, the author embarks on a quest through a maze of mainstream and alternative health care to find treatments that eventually help improve her condition significantly. In a turning point, she realizes her response to her misfortune is the only thing she can really control. The illness takes her on an inward journey that enriches her life in surprising ways and leads her to see the ultimate paradox: that the new limitations on her life have expanded her, and through them she has become someone she wouldn't have been if she had remained healthy.
