Look, I've been playing Pokémon since Blue and Red, and I've played every single one of them. This set is nothing short of amazing. It is beautifully and thoughtfully put together in ways that make my inner trainer sing. Everything is of good or amazing quality. Paper products are clearly made of heavyweight materials, the pen writes like a dream and is also a good weight that accepts refills, and the amount of content is astounding.
This is definitely the happiest I've been about dropping big money on a collector's edition.

Take your Pokemon obsession to the next level with this awesome collector's edition

Just in case any of you are on the fence about getting the Pokemon Sun and Moon Collector’s Vault, I wanted to show you all some images that may help you decide if it’s something you feel will be worth your hard-earned money.
First of all, there are only 20,000 of these in existence. With the millions of Pokemon Sun and Moon players in the world, that’s not very many. As an Oahu-born Trainer myself, these games are very special to me, so I felt like if I was going to get the strategy guide for these games it may as well be this one.
I took a few photos of the inside of the journal, so you can see what the pages look like, as well as the pocket in the back decorated with a graphic of the Alola region map. My personal favorite thing about it is the fact that the front page - which has a place where you can sign your name - says, “This journal belongs to a trial goer completing their island challenge.” I thought that was an awfully cute little touch. :)
The pen is GORGEOUS and writes in black, not silver as I’d thought. It’s also a bit heavy. Before this package arrived I thought, “What is with all these people on Amazon raving about the pen, of all things,” but now I see that they have good reason to do so. It’s seriously one legit pen, and apparently is refillable so you can write with it forever and ever.
Then there’s the map. OH MY GOODNESS, this map. I have no idea what kind of paper it was printed on but it almost doesn’t even feel like paper - it’s textured, and almost has a leathery feel to it. VERY high quality, and not to mention it is HUGE. I took a picture of one side on a twin sized mattress so you can see just how huge this thing is - it takes up half the mattress! The other photo shows how it looks on my wall. Again, still huge. It’s definitely gonna jump out at you when you walk into your bedroom. ALOLA!!
Finally we have the trainer passport. It’s just like the one you get in the game and comes with stickers of the different seals, so you can have a real life version of all your Alolan accomplishments.
There are a few other things included, like white sticker decals (which would be perfect for a laptop), a bookmark, and of course the pack of concept art that comes with the normal collector’s edition strategy guide.
All in all I’m extremely happy with this thing, and I think any other Trainer would be, too. They don't call it a collector's edition for nothing. Just make sure you buy it from Amazon and not pokemoncenter.com so you save a massive 50 dollars!

I am continually astounded by Pokemon's ability to create quality merchandise that their customers and fans love. I didn't realize how much would be included in this product, and opening it was a real treat. The box is beautiful and of sturdy quality. The book has a very nice dust jacket (with a picture on the inside) and, while it does not contain a Pokedex, it is a full walkthrough of the Sun and Moon games with lots of useful information for those who enjoy having the information in hand rather than looking it up online.
As for the rest, the art cards are neat and definitely a bigger draw if you're a person who enjoys concept art and character sheets. The map is very cool, not just a big poster. The white decals are nice, not sure if they'd go well on a car window but I know they're the sort that would look stellar on a laptop case! The bookmark and passport are awesome treats straight from the game itself.
My biggest joy was the notebook and pen. (I am a bit of a writing nerd with lots of journals, so keep that in mind.) The journal is as good as any high-quality leather bound journal you might find in Barnes and Noble. The PEN THOUGH. Oh my. Pardon my geeking out. The pen is beautiful, weighty and writes very well. The black body with gold accents is striking. Best of all, it takes HERO 0.7mm refills. In short, it's a pen I will use for the rest of my life (provided I don't lose it!) and it's a real treasure.
Now, if you're not a person who's in love with clever, high quality merchandise and memorabilia this collection may well be too expensive. The book can be bought alone, or you can wait for the Alolan Pokedex which I imagine will contain much of the same information. But if you like to collect things, or are looking for a STELLAR gift for a Pokemon fan, I can't recommend this highly enough (especially at Amazon's price point.)

So, what can I say that others haven't already said yet?
It's the first time I buy a collector's thing, and a strategy guide for a game, specially Pokémon. These new games are a bit different than the other pokémon games, and I thought that it would be good to buy a strategy guide... then I saw this and I didn't think twice.
I must say that I regret nothing, althought I paid less than 80 dlls, so I guess it's worth the money. And what other people have said about the stuff that comes with this vault is true, completely true. The quality and little details in each thing is terrific! The artwork is fantastic, the map and journal are so beautiful, and the pen... yes, the pen is the best thing and you can refilled it!
And I can understand that paying like 130 dlls for this is kinda crazy, but hey, it's 80 dlls right now, so if you have the chance to buy it, buy it!

This is not just a love letter to the newest game in the franchise
Reviewed in Canada on December 27, 2016Verified Purchase
I wholeheartedly agree with the previous comment the pictures do not do this set justice. This is not just a love letter to the newest game in the franchise, but also a big thank you to the fans. the craftmanship and care taken to put this set together really shows the appreciation. A must have for any collector, or gamer who who just loves this series. I was on the fence about getting this item but it has quickly become the stand out among my previously purchased collectors packages (I.e. Alan Wake, Assassins' Creed) The strategy and care required to truly become a "Master" has grown more complex since I ventured on this series, and this set has really inspired me to not just step up my game, but enjoy the journey (for myself a 20 year one) Didn't really care about EV training before, but the fact that 10 year old nephew is taking me school has ignited my passion as we bond over this intergenerational phenomenon. My journal now tracks the who's who of my team, and where they need to become battle worthy. A celebration, a piece art. This Vault edition will not disappoint!

Beautiful collector's edition guidebook
Reviewed in Canada on September 5, 2020Verified Purchase
This is the ultimate collector's edition guidebook for Pokemon. The extras included like the journal and pen are beautiful pieces that really feel like they come straight from the Pokemon world. The only downside is I feel like they're too collectible to actually use. A must get for any mega-Pokemon fan.
