The Polar Loop keeps a charge for a number of days unless linked to a heart rate monitor in which case it needs to be charged daily. Charging is quick.
The one button on the Polar Loop is not activated by pressure, so don't keep pushing hard on it. It took me some time, but I finally figured out that a light touch with a warm finger is all that is needed.
PEDOMETER: The device does not have GPS so it relies on wrist motion to count steps. If your arm is not moving it is not counting, so don't expect accurate daily counts.
BATTERY: Terrible battery life. You have to charge every day and depending on how long your workouts are and syncing with Polar Flow phone app, you might have to charge twice in a day.
I think for the price range it is probably okay and my expectations were probably set too high.
It tracks my activity well, but the inactivity alert is only show in the LED display. No vibrate alert, so it can be easily missed.
The Polar Loop doesn't have off button. So when I don't use it, I can't turn it off. Sometimes it records inactivity alert when I don't use it.
Now when it works with the heart rate monitor.
It tracks and record my heart rate as soon as I pair it with Polar Loop. There is no start and stop option when I want to start my training session. If I have multiple training sessions, it will record them all as single sessions. I can manipulate it by removing the sensor for 2 minutes before I start my next session, but this is not comfortable and if I place it again too soon, it will still record as single session.
Now I choose to use the heart rate monitor with Endomondo on my phone, which offers better options to record my training sessions. But I don't have options to import my training session back to Polar Flow to see if I have achieve my goal.
I like the Polar Loop, and H7 heart rate monitor is very good. They work well individually, but not working well together. It may be good enough for casual use, but if you use heart rate monitor for training sessions, you will expect it to do more than that. Polar shouldn't offer them as a bundle.
What I like is the 100% true waterproofing of the Loop. The fitbit flex is advertised as water resistant but is not recommended to be worn during water sports. Also the clasp for the Loop is 10x better than the fitbit. While you do have to cut the band down to fit your wrist, the standard style snap clasp (think classic watch band clasp) is way more secure. In the last few months, ive never had a problem with the Loop falling off or coming unclasped, the same cannot be said for my girlfriend and her fitbit flex. Also, some people point out that if you cut too much off the band during sizing, it will no longer fit. While this is true, Polar will ship out a new band replacement kit within the first few weeks of ownership if it happens. I had no problems cutting mine to the right size, and the directions to do so were pretty easy to understand.
The H7 heart rate transmitter is great too and pairs easily with the Loop. It also allows you to connect via Bluetooth to your phone and allows you to use Polar's Beat app if you so choose.
The app for the Loop, aka Polar Flow, has really improved over the last few months especially on the Android platform. Improvements continue to come out every couple of weeks.
Overall, its great!
