This is a great album for everyone who enjoys acoustic or relaxing music. I love all of the original songs, and these new takes on it have me loving them even more. There are new parts and instrumentals that are absolutely beautiful. I'm not too fond of "You're Going Down" aasa song, but I do appreciate the work put into it. Overall, I love this release.

The Pups have done it again. True to the name, Polar Opposite is completely different from anything they have done before. I really love that they incorporated orchestra music into some songs. Plus more Emma is always nice to hear.

If you're a casual fan, like I was, Polar Opposite will turn you into a HUGE fan of Sick Puppies. "Riptide" would have to be my favorite right now. This is music that is good wherever you are, any time of the day. The lyrics are inspiring and the music sublime.

The Sick Puppies are constantly outdoing themselves, pushing their talents to create something new and exciting for the fans, whether it is in the studio or during their live shows. With Polar Opposite, they've managed to excel creatively, this time on a whole different scale. The album is a re-working of 6 tracks from their sophomore U.S. album Tri Polar. The songs have been broken down acoustically and layered with new vocals and stringed instruments. As a bonus, Sick Puppies added their breakout hit "All The Same".
Polar Opposite starts with the first single off Tri Polar," You're Going Down". Originally a hard-hitting fight song, "You're Going Down" has been completely transformed to be nearly unrecognizable from the original. Acoustically, the song gives off a whole new vibe, and the slow pace combined with layered vocals creates a beautiful melody.
"Riptide", the band's current single, has a gorgeous string accompaniment with acoustic guitar. This unusual harmony adds depth and an unexpected twist to the song.
"Maybe", the most successful of the band's songs so far, leaves the listener completely in awe of the beauty. The vocals give the message to change your life for the better, with lyrics like "So why does it feel so wrong to reach for something more, to want to live a better life, what am I waiting for?" A wonderfully inspirational song; this acoustic version gives it new meaning and power.
"Odd One" starts in with a chilling background voice singing some of the most powerful lyrics, "don't let someone tell you you're no one." The intro grips the listener completely and draws them through the rest of this compelling song.
"Don't Walk Away", originally only sung by Shim Moore, now has bassist Emma Anzai singing both versus.

Sick Puppies never fail to prove that they are an amazingly talented band. These re-imagined, unplugged songs have an almost hauntingly beautiful quality to them. I've had "Don't Walk Away" on repeat all week. - JF

I downloaded the album at around 10PM Mountain time on the 28 because it was after midnight eastern because I didnt want to wait until the next day and I am glad I did. I was actually at a concert for Linkin Park, but getting Polar Opposite was the only thing on my mind. Since downloading to my phone, I have had to charge my battery twice as often because this album has been on shuffle for the last 2 weeks. The only thing better would be to hear the songs live with the full accompaniment at a show!

Polar Opposite oooozes with awesomeness. The immense talent of the three individuals in this band is evident. It is amazing that the band was able to take songs that they play day in and day out in a hard heavy style and mix them up with classical intruments, slow them down and change them up. all he while making them sound amazing. This album is fantastic and definitely a twist in a different direction. Sick Puppies are some monstrously talented musicians. If you don't have Tripolar and/or Dressed Up s Life, go get em' because it's fun to listen to the songs in their original form and then in their "Polar Opposite" format. Defintily two thumbs up on this one (three if I had 'em)
