Pros: Will mount on most basic tripods. BRIGHT! LED so it doesn't get super hot or eat up the battery too fast. Adjustable intensity. Really cool remote that doubles as an infrared shutter release. Rechargeable. Runs off of a wall outlet as well if needed in studio. Tungsten filter is on point. Feels well made and sturdy, as opposed to cheap and flimsy!
Cons: The only things that I'd call anything close to a "con" is the fact that the battery only lasts about an hour, but they're not so expensive that you can't afford to carry around a couple of extras. It's also a bit on the heavy side, which doesn't bother me, but may be an issue to others. It also doesn't cook breakfast for me.. o.O
In summery, I'm extremely happy with my purchase! I'd even go the extra mile to say that this is possibly better than some of its more popular, and much more expensive, competitors! I plan on purchasing another one of these to replace some of my, much bulkier and clumsy, studio lights! If anything changes, I'll be sure to update this review, but so far so good!! =)
A very good deal for the money. You all need one.
It has excellent daylight colour accuracy and the removable tungsten filter of the Pro version makes for a better-looking product than the Pro+ version with integrated gel. There are ten levels of brightness.
The size and weight are similar to the Ice Light, being thin enough to comfortably hold by hand.
I also have the Genaray SpectroLED SP-LR Light which is another well-priced alternative to the Westcott Ice Light. The Genaray has slightly too red daylight colour balance and its tungsten balance is quite weak but this can be an advantage as a fill light and since there is no gel over the LEDs, it is equally bright in both modes whereas the BrighSabre and Ice Light lose a lot of brightness due to the colour filters. The Genaray is also quite heavy and the handle is too thick to be comfortable for long.
The finishing is medium-high quality and it comes in a nice retro-styled Polaroid Box with a Sony-equivalent battery and AC adaptor-cum-charger.
Having just three buttons means it is easy to operate by feel. The remote is also very handy for setting up on a stage etc. where you don't want it on all the time and don't want to get in the way personally.
The cary sleeve is a bit tight - needs to be about an inch longer - but makes for a light and compact overall package, whereas the Genaray has a semi-hard case with additional cavity for the spigot that comes with it.
Both products come with a plastic bag-style sleeve which could be handy if using in the rain or near water.
The bottom of the handle is convex, which means it is not as sturdy as it could be for screwing onto a stand at an angle, which is the preferred position for a softer overall look.
Two of these units is adequate for completely balanced fill light in sunlight, while one is enough on a cloudy day - something the Ice Light 2 cannot accomplish. One unit will allow for full exposure of a headshot at f/1.4 and 100th second at ISO100, and at this setting your studio work can look quite different to strobes due to the apertures you can use which might not be possible when syncing 500W studio strobes to 200th second or slower.
With two units you can produce more lighting effects and I would certainly recommend two from the get-go for anyone who plans to move away from strobes or do a lot of video work or wants to do talking heads etc. where a hair light is going to take your video to another level. However, if you can only afford one, this is probably the best model on the market in terms of price / performance / quality / features.
These will also make great camping or patrol lights and there is a couple of flashing patterns you can scroll to with the power button, or press and hold to turn on and off.

Great little light, very comparable to the Icelight 1, without the $500 price tag.Read more
