From Kirkus Reviews
Already a runaway bestseller in the UK, this latest doorstopper fantasy from the husband-and-wife team expands upon the events encompassing two huge five-book sagas, The Belgariad and The Malloreon, plus a sequel-cum-companion volume, Belgarath the Sorcerer (1995). This enormous tome focuses on Belgarath's daughter Polgara, the 3,000-year-old shape-shifting sorceress, and her tumultuous world of magic, one-eyed evil gods, kings, swords, orbs, and whatnot. The reason for the three-star review is the horrible Kindle conversion. The book is absolutely littered with mistakes and missing characters. Nearly every page has at least one missing quotation mark or period, rn/m mistake ("the sun was corning up") or some other error. It's a mess, and overall a sloppy job on the part of the publisher. I'd happily give the book a glowing five-star review if it weren't for this. Over a thousand pages of mistakes adds up to a frustrating reading experience.
If you enjoyed the series, you may safely skip this book. It's not required reading.
i've been reading the paper versions of these stories every winter for the past 16 years now and it's a bit like visiting old friends. the story touches my heart in many different ways as i journey through this epic tale. at times i cry and laugh, i'm afraid and wild with delight, but at the end i'm filled with warmth and love.
i'm thrilled to now have the kindle version of these magnificent books, NOW i can pack the entire series whenever we travel and still fit some clothes in my suitcase!
Believable characters who come to life,a way of life that unfolds in your own home.
