I am currently considering joining the police department of Denver County. I thought this book would be helpful in determining whether or not I would be built for this profession. After reading this book or rather short essay, I can say that I have so much more preparation to do. For example, I am going to familiarize myself with the telephonic alphabet, go on ride-alongs and prepare myself for the physical rigors of the job. Overall, I think this piece by J.E. Smith is an essential start for people like myself, that have no prior exposure to the inside of law enforcement. Good read.

This book is good for someone who has absolutely no understanding of what it is to be a cop or consider a career. The topics and descriptions are vague. This may be a good start point for someone to reference but there is no info in this book that you can't find online or in forums.
