Michael Brown is a Jewish believer in Jesus (he came to faith in 1971 as a heroin-shooting, LSD-using, hippie rock drummer) and he holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University. He's written more than 40 books, including wake-up calls to the Church of America, scholarly monographs and commentaries on biblical subjects, a series of volumes on answering Jewish objections to Jesus, and much-discussed books on today's hottest cultural issues. He has spoken throughout America and in more than 30 countries, and he hosts the nationally syndicated, daily talk radio show The Line of Fire. He is the founder and president of FIRE School of Ministry in Concord, NC and serves as a visiting or adjunct professor at a number of seminaries. He and his wife Nancy have been married since 1976 and have two wonderful daughters and four incredible grandchildren. His heart beats to see a gospel-based moral and cultural revolution in this generation.

    Mike Brown’s new book, The Political Seduction of the Church, is the sharpest, most compelling analysis I have yet seen on the failures among American Evangelicals in dealing with politics and the Trump phenomenon. He is fair to all sides. This is by far the beat book on the issues I have read. He is fair to all sides and knows the issues well and what is at stake in the leftist program for America. MIke was a Trump voter on the basis of the issues. Yet, he brings convictions on the imbalance and idolatry in promoting a primary political solution to the situation in the United States and unduly elevating Donal Trump. I used to say some 35 years ago that Michael Brown was like a brilliant surgeon with a scalpel, carefully seeking to cut out the cancer but leaving the healthy tissue. This book is surgically precise. The book is profoundly fair and well researched.

    Dr. Brown’s analysis of what went wrong with a segment of the prophetic movement and how they could so mishear on Donald Trumps re-election is a masterful analysis of the psychology of spiritual deception. His analysis of how Christians were drawn into a trap of wrong priorities, then desperation for President Trump’s re-election and then being given to ungodly behaviors is brilliant. I can only attribute this to the leading of the Spirit. Dr. Brown is fair and sympathetic and understands those who so passionately want to see the preservation of the United States as a country that carries on the best of its historic heritage. He sees the great dangers of the left and how this is rightly opposed. He does not just bash Christians for being too pro-Trump, not at all. He gets it. However, he clearly sees the right and wrong priorities in the way to see American values restored. His concern first of all is the condition of the Church in America and his words on that should bring great conviction and repentance.

    How is it that Dr. Brown could write such book. It is because of years of passion for revival and intercession. It is because of years of cultural apologetics and analysis. The two produce a unique combination. I don’t know who else could have written such book. The challenge now is how do we get millions of people to read it.

    When I first saw this book advertised in the Christian Post, I was upset by what was said in the article. Basically that was because I was a Trump supporter, I liked what he had accomplished in four years, and I hated how the left and their propaganda machine, the media, was doing everything in their power to derail his presidency. They started on the day after the election was called in 2016 and never ended to this day.
    But as the reality of the election of 2020 registered and all the professing "prophets" started their "prophecies" that Trump would eventually be "rightfully reinstated as the rightful winner of the election", at first I started to get pulled into to it. But as the days kept passing and it became obvious that that wasn't going to happen, I pulled myself away. It was then that I decided to see what Dr. Michael Brown had to say about the whole thing. While I don't agree with everything that he says, in particular, I don't believe that he truly called all the so-called "prophets" what they tuely are. False prophets!
    But I think he makes a lot of sense about how the American Church got pulled into something that truly has tarnished the Name of Jesus and His Church. Something many of us, myself included need to do. Repent for looking to Trump as "the" answer of all the countries problems instead of the One who truly had all the answers. As Dr. Brown pointed out many in the American Church became more focused on the second coming of Trump than the second coming of Jesus Christ. 2). We need to get our focus on the One who we have professed faith in as our God, our LORD and our Savior, and start acting like it. Thank you Dr. Brown for writing this book. It has opened my eyes to my poor decision and got me refocused on what's important. Acting like a child of God and not a child of this world.
